Black Rocks is a truly cool, free place to visit with plenty to see and do. The views are amazing, and the rocks on the small beach areas are simply gorgeous. I do want to mention that the water is extremely cold; during my visit, a teenager who jumped in experienced shock and nearly drowned, which was quite frightening to witness. You might also spot black squirrels and a fair number of mosquitoes.
There's ample parking in the lower sections of the park. However, if it's exceptionally busy and Black Rocks is your primary destination, it's wise to secure a parking spot before reaching the immediate Black Rocks parking area. That lot isn't very large, and if it's full, you'll have to drive the entire loop again to find a space.

Nice park with pretty water views. Wear sturdy shoes if you plan on walking on the boulders, and get bug spray for the biting flies.

Cliff jumping in Michigan!
Jump at your own risk.
It was scary but fun.
I don’t recommend going in June. It was 50° out and even colder in the water!!!

I do plan on returning in August when the temps are higher in the sun and in the water.

But, Lake Superior is deep, so expect COLD water year round

We climbed the cliffs of black rock and watched a group of kids diving into Lake Superior. The lake was serene today.

Such an amazing place to visit! There are several viewing areas along a path, but after a short, somewhat difficult climb you will come to the best view! Lots of people cliff jump here too!

Granted it was our first time to the UP and we don’t have much experience, this place was still by far everyone’s favorite day of our trip!! Such a cool place, parking is not great but worth a walk 🙂
