The front desk person (Matt) has been phenomenal. Accommodating and professional, and very welcoming. Due to booking through a third party there was an issue with my reservation, but Matt was very nice to make my stay work. Also needed batteries for the TV remote, and again he was right on it, and solved the issue.

You can't beat the location for easy access to restaurants and the amusement park.

Hotel is a little dated, and you can see it is getting up there in age. But for the price and especially the service, you can't go wrong.

This stay deserved every bit of a warning to others and a serious call-out to Choice Hotels for allowing this property to still operate under their brand.

I originally booked a suite at the Quality Inn by Carowinds, as part of scouting for an upcoming birthday. I chose this location specifically because of the advertised whirlpool suites, along with proximity to the park— something I was genuinely excited about.

I was checked into Room 236. The moment I walked in, I was appalled. The walls were filthy, the door had what looked like a footprint from someone trying to kick it in, and the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The whirlpool tub was disgusting — clearly not cleaned — and I ended up having to scrub it down myself with supplies from the front desk.

The shower head was broken and barely hanging on, the air conditioner had barely any airflow, the tub drained extremely slow, and the towels provided were not even enough for two people. The toilet seat and lid were dirty, and basic amenities like soap were missing. Even worse, the sofa bed had no sheets or pillows, and was covered in disturbing stains.

This room should never have been rented out to any guest, at any rate.

After complaining to the front desk, I was helped by a gentleman named Sam — and he was the one bright spot in this nightmare. He listened, was respectful, apologetic, and ultimately moved me to Room 204. While that room still had dirty jets and non-functioning whirlpool features, it was noticeably cleaner and more functional overall. Sam went above and beyond to make sure we were somewhat accommodated, and I’m thankful for his professionalism and effort in a situation that honestly shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

That said, this property is a disgrace. Quality Inn and Choice Hotels should be ashamed of allowing this location to carry their name. The overall condition of the hotel is gross, neglected, and unacceptable. From maintenance to cleanliness to basic hospitality standards, this place failed at every level — except customer service, thanks to Sam.

If I ever decide to give this location another shot, it would only be because of Sam’s willingness to do right by guests. But this hotel needs serious intervention, deep cleaning, maintenance, and corporate accountability. Until then, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Mr Patel is an awesome host. This hotel feels like family. From Sam who works night shift to the Irish Guy all the staff takes care of the guests. Even the house keepers are nice. The rooms are clean and smell great and for the price compared to the other hotels is the best hotel near Carowinds. Stayed over a month here working and would come back anytime. When I booked this room I was optimistic because of the amount of photos I saw with the remodel being done online. When we got here to stay I became more and more disappointed in things that should be covered when remodeling. Beds are beyond wore out. Both beds in my room had wear dips in the middle of them. I did not get a good nights rest either night we stayed. Light bulbs in the room(3 different lamps) were all out except for two which we had to move around in order to see at night. Outlets on the walls were broken and wires were showing as well as the light fixtures on the walls. Security locks on the door was broken and not operational as well as the pool they have advised on site and an ice machine they have on the second floor. They do offer breakfast. It’s sub par at best. Very little to eat that’s decent or has much protein. Coffee was not hot and no juice available. I appreciate that they are trying to bring this place up and certain areas look and smell great, but others are lacking, especially where your guests are concerned. For the price I paid to stay here, you can go down the road and stay at a nicer hotel that you would actually be able to sleep, have ice, swim and eat a great meal before heading out for the day.

The rooms are nice and the beds are really comfortable and they have breakfast in the morning so that’s a good thing. Also the showers are really good and the conscience is great as well also the front desk employee Sam was very helpful and nice. Sam made the whole check in easy and simple and I had no problems getting the room and he was helpful.

Overall, I can't complain too much about the hotel. Got some restful nights sleep here and I would consider it anytime I'm in the area. I mainly chose this hotel for its close proximity to Carowinds (right across the street), but you'll still have to drive or Uber since it can be a lengthy walk if you decide to hoof it.

I have two main issues about this hotel:

1. This isn't a major issue for me but it could be for others - housekeeping is only done on every 3rd day and never on weekends. So that means your bed won't be made every night you come in and your towels won't be picked up. And if there are any spots that you want clean, you are SOL until that 3rd day. Again, not a major issue for me, but if you're a stickler for your bed being made and your towels being replenished, you'll be disappointed.

2. There is a $100 deposit you have to put down upon check-in, which took me by surprise. I was not told this, and nowhere on the Choice Hotels website did it mention as such. Fortunately, I had the deposit and did get it back in full upon check-out, but if you did not budget for the deposit, you may be in for a rude awakening.

Other than those two issues, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The free breakfast was filling and delicious. I gave it three stars because those two issues docked those points, but I never felt like I had a very bad stay at the hotel. The staff were friendly with me. I can recommend this hotel if you aren't that serious about your room not being housekept every day and you can budget for that deposit.

We booked for our carowinds trip and it was about a 10 minute drive. So that was a plus. First room we got the ac unit was falling apart and the room looked a bit janky. Told front desk and they were nice enough to give us another room. Not a bad hotel if you're just trying to have a good place to rest. The pool is about 10ft big maybe smaller but overall not a bad place.

We had a wonderful stay on our Carowinds trip. The rooms were clean and comfy. The breakfast was great huge amount of food to choose from. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area!!!
