Me and a friend traveled from out of state to visit what's become a regional railfan hotspot. We came up on a day where the local excursion train (The SAM) was running that evening along with there being a street festival in Downtown, Cordele a short walk away. The train watching platform itself is top notch. You can stay all day and keep your cameras charged. The train frequency is awesome too. You might have a small lull in traffic for maybe a hour. But it's never truly dead.

If you are into watching trains, this is a great place with many benches to sit on, some train history to read and a pretty open area for kids to run around and watch the trains. We heard there are about 80 to 100 trains that go by each day. We saw 4 go by with being there a couple of hours. Cool trains watching place.

Great place to stop and stretch as well as pee your dog. Clean with fantastic bathrooms and cool history. Easy free parking. However, Cordele the town is somewhat run down and needs a boost. It’s ashamed to see it’s not surviving but hopefully things will turn around.

It was hot, but the shaded viewing platform had outside ceiling fans. It was more comfortable than just not having any air blowing at all. We didn't stay long, but saw 3 trains in about an hour. Planning on going back!!!

If you are into trains or can appreciate trains you will enjoy this park. I brought my lunch to eat here in the viewing pavillion. I talked to a few die-hard rail fans. I had some very informative conversations. The park has bathrooms, but they were not open (2pm on a Wednesday). It also has a water bottle fill-station, rail radio, informative signs and power outlets. It even has a live cam so people can watch the trains online. I was there an hour and two trains went by. All in all, I think this is a unique but nice addition to the ever struggling downtown.

Had been wanting to go here for a while now. I want to commend city leaders for doing this to improve the development of downtown Cordele. This is so awesome for the rail fans all over southwest Georgia. I will be coming back here very soon. Have always loved trains since I was a child.

A great busy spot to watch trains. Guaranteed train action all day. I've been watching trains there since 2019. A nice spot to sit at the observation deck. It has benches, fans, water fountain, wheelchair ramp and two restrooms. And the view of the tracks is perfect!
