We rented the Lodge the week of deer hunting and Thanksgiving. The warm and cozy feeling we got from the Lodge was there the minute we walked in. Very spacious, fully stocked and comfortable. I enjoyed the great room the most with the vaulted ceilings, animal mounts and incredible sunsets. Truly hated to leave

The lodge was the perfect place for our stay. Very rustic interior with all the modern kitchen appliances. The view of the bay is spectacular. We finished the day with a bourbon by the fireplace and woke up to a flock of white swans and Canadian geese swimming right out from the shoreline. We will definitely stay again

Staying at the Sand Bay Lodge made our deer hunting week a fantastic experience. Loved the cottage feel in the lodge with great amenities. The views outside and the wildlife and waterfowl were amazing. Looking forward to staying in this convenient location again. Thanks for everything! Loo

We stayed at the lodge the week of Thanksgiving. While the hunters were out doing their thing, I made Thanksgiving dinner in the very large kitchen. I walked the beach area and enjoyed the view of the water filled with swans and geese. The Lodge is quiet and relaxing.

We had a great time with the ample room for the family. We spoke with the owner before hand about having a dog OUTSIDE of the cabin and they said we could without issue. We were then charged for having a pet there even though our dog didn’t go inside once and we were sure to pick up after him. Also we caught one fish, this was not there fault our ours. It was immediately following the smallmouth bedding season and there were bait fish(food for other fish) every where. Beautifully clear water would’ve been great if we weren’t charged for the dog and we had been there a week and a half earlier for fishing. We also had to go back out and buy toilet paper because they left the thinnest tp I’ve literally ever seen.

I drove a long time coming from Colorado with my family to enjoy the Door County peninsula. The location was perfect. One day we went across with the ferry to Washington Island for a beautiful day trip. Another day, we enjoyed all the shops in the upper peninsula and all the little towns- and even stopped at a drive-in theater. Another day, just 5 minutes down the road, we enjoyed cherry picking at the country orchard, hearing the roosters crow in the background. We went back to the cottage and baked a pie in a well supplied kitchen. For a little extra fee, my daughters were taken out for a tubing expedition and learned how to water ski. The place was clean and homey, one night we just stayed in to watch a movie, roast marshmallows, and watch a beautiful sunset over the lake and the sandy beaches. The best vacation ever.

We stayed at the lodge as we had a huge group. Rather than choosing a motel, we found this. This place is HUGE. It is a Lodge. It has 8 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms.||All updated with new appliances, even an extra 5+ foot double wide refrigerator plus the normal refrigerator.||Great dining area with a long table that can seat many people. Big living room plus also an additional sitting area off the kitchen. The basement, even though the ceilings are low, was great. It has a bar, ping pong, foosball, and a shuffle board. Loads of fun.||Right on the water.||If you need a place to stay with 20+ people check this place out.||Pricey but the lodge is meant for a large group/family so the cost could be split.||I would definitely recommend this for a larger group.||One note: When you first turn on Haines Road, on the left is Sandy Bay Resort. Not Sandy Bay Lodge. Keep going down the road and it is at the end.

Upside:
It was clean.
It had a beautiful view.
It was very easy to find.
It had ample parking for many cars and boats.
It had a great side yard for kids to play in.
It was very private. Owner and cleaning people very friendly.
Nice game room in basement.
Great refrigerator space.
Nice grill.
Great screened porch.
Nice sized updated kitchen and eating areas.
We got to see wildlife at night: a skunk, racoons and deer.
Great firepit area.

Downside:
Original Website was very misleading (original website has since been removed).
Thought there was a swimming beach there, actually mile and a half down the road.
No laundry facilities. Also a mile and a half down the road if you need it.
Not enough towels if you rent for a week.
Pillows where not very good, we went out and bought new ones.
No place to put dirty towels.
Wi-Fi never worked, although owner told us on our third day it had only been out a few days and the provider had been out to fix it previously and that it would be fixed by mid week, it never was and we had to go to public library to get 15 minutes of Wi-Fi. When one of our party called the internet provider, the provider informed them it had been out for weeks with no service calls dispatched for repair.
Satellite TV never worked on most tvs. TV in kitchen wouldn't even turn on.
No DVD player as advertised on original website.
No usable dock for boats. Dock they have is in very poor shape, wobbly, broken boards, and too high to safely get elderly and children on boats. Too high to dock a boat without damage to boat.
Didn’t have one simple thing needed for a rental.....a working can opener. The ones provided didn't work.
Bathtub on main floor is stained and dingy with remnants of removed stickers on bottom.
Cobwebs and dirty on both top and waterfront decks, we cleaned top one off so it was usable for the week. No volleyball net, as stated on original website, members of our group went out and bought one.
Bikes needed air in some tires and where covered with cobwebs. The area where bikes where kept needed cleaned up.
One of the bedrooms downstairs was advertised on original website as a king size bed, however, it was a king mattress sitting on either a full or queen size box spring, therefore the edges bent over making it a smaller bed.
One of the steps going upstairs had a crack in the wood and if you step on it wrong, your foot gets pinched.
