As the sun sank lower and lower on our day in Madison we ventured over to Vintage Lanes to try our hand at duckpin bowling. 🌅

Located on 2nd Street, Vintage Lanes is the latest creation of Matt and Dan Chandler. My wife and I stayed at their beautiful boutique hotel, The Chandler, back in February. 🏨

Keeping in line with their hotel styling, Vintage Lanes also occupies a very cool older building that’s been restored to swanky modern vibes. It’s the perfect mix of old and new.

Duckpin bowling is offered on two levels, utilizing an electronic booking system that can be accessed via on-site kiosks or with any smartphone. Similar to regular bowling, duckpin simply shrinks the game— shorter lanes, smaller and lighter balls without finger holes, and smaller pins. 🦆

They have two entrances. The main entrance goes directly into the wine bar, while the side entrance is for bowling. Our family entered on the side and we made our way to the first floor kiosk.

Booking only took a few minutes. It showed me which lanes were available and the pricing options for various group sizes. We chose one lane on the second floor for one hour for five bowlers, making our price $50 + tax. I then input the name of each bowler.

As we arrived at our lane upstairs all of our information was displayed on the start screen, with a counter to show our remaining time. In just a couple more clicks our game had started!

Those not actively bowling kicked back in the leather stools at the L-shaped bar behind the bowlers. We had a menu of wines, beer, spirits, and charcuterie that could be ordered by scanning a QR code. My wife opted for a wine flight. 🍷

Guests are also welcome to bring in their own food and drinks, which is pretty cool. 🍕

The kids were getting into the groove of duckpin and before long wagers were being placed. They found that smooth but powerful “throws” were the keys to success. Eventually my nephew, the birthday boy, came out on top! 🏆

As luck would have it, the bowlers in the lane next to us decided to leave early, so they gave us the rest of their time. We got an extra 20 minutes to sharpen our skills.

We all had a great time and the whole experience flowed well. Booking was easy, ordering drinks was easy, running the game was easy, and the bathrooms were clean! 🎳

As we were walking out my wife and I went through the first floor bar to check it out. A fellow patron caught our attention and asked “wanna see the speakeasy?”

He then revealed a hidden door and gave us a tour of the secret lounge! It was so cool!

The small details that make The Chandler Hotel so interesting have also made Vintage Lanes stand out amongst its competitors. Put them on your list of fun things to do the next time you find yourself in beautiful Madison, Indiana.

Never been duck pin bowling, and wow how the owners have not missed a beat to detail of the experience here! The wine bar and speak easy atmosphere is top notch as well! Great place to relax with friends! You must visit when in Madison!

We had a great experience here over the Regatta weekend! I reserved a lane for our group on the second floor and we had a great time with the duckpin bowling. I was worried it would be hot being on the second floor of an older building, but that wasn’t a problem. Before going up for our reservation, we had some wine at the bar. Our bartender Drew was excellent at explaining the wines and how everything worked. He let us take our bottle up to bowling portion. After bowling, we went down into the speakeasy portion and had drinks on the couches for a while until the fireworks were about to start. Vintage lanes was the highlight of our trip!

Stepping in to Vintage Lanes is an elevated experience like no other in Madison. Each detail is so intentional and the service top notch. The space is comfortable with even a packed house; everyone has space during the bowling games. We’ve had the most pleasant experiences every time we’ve been, well done!!

Found this little gem of a wine bar in Madison and it is positively delightful. It has duck bowling (mini) with a fantastic selection of cocktails and beers as well. Not a food place but the charcuterie board was very well done. Glen was a delight behind the bar. If you are in Madison, you should stop by!

Vintage Lanes is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is so classy and sophisticated—I love the elegant ambiance from the moment you walk in. The Riesling is hands down the best I’ve ever had! The staff is incredibly professional and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. The wine bar and outdoor patio are so inviting, perfect for relaxing with friends or enjoying a quiet evening. I’m thrilled that Madison, IN has such a cool and unique establishment.
