Experiencing supper at the Golden Spruce was truly a 5 star experience! My wife had the Tri Tip Sandwich with sweet potato fries. I had the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. Both were top notch in flavor and appearance! The owners were very personable and informative about the area. The octagonal log building with a major center support post and vaulted ceiling made it open and airy! The log structure and the owners emanated warmth!

If you are interested in the story read below. If not jump to second paragraph. ||We found out this cabin last minute. We were supposed to stay a lodge near the Wrangell Mountain. But we found up it will be big challenge for our rental car. We did not know the road is gravel all the way, and our rental car doesn’t allow us to enter there. We found out on our trip to McCarthy and we booked a round ride from another company. Anyway so , when we got back to the pick up location at Chitina was around 7pm, We were desperately need to find a place to stay. Plus there was no coverage from our AT&T provider. As we driving down the road find hotel and cellphone signal. We found there cabin on Alaska Route 10. And it was a oasis, and a miracle. Regarding all the hotel’s rooms are sold out. ||It turn out a very nice cabin. Cozy and clean. The owner has a liquor store on the site. She cooks meals for travelers. The sandwich’s are amazing good. Decent American breakfast. Very reasonable price for Alaska.The owners/lady is very sweet and kind. Just be aware there is no bathroom/restroom inside the cabin. You can use the bathroom/restroom at the main house which is in the back room of the main house(the liquor store that the owner serves the meals). It basically is Glamping if it makes sense. I will recommend it to everyone.

I booked via a phone call and could tell immediately that the lady on the other end was a kind, genuine person. I was also pleasantly surprised by how nice the property was when I arrived. Clean, organized, and well thought out. Her and her husband built the cabins by hand! For a "dry" cabin, it was extremely clean and cozy. Patty was an excellent host. Great to talk to and share her perspectives on the area and lifestyle. She was also an exceptional cook! I really enjoyed my stay and my only regret is I couldn't stay longer.

I was traveling with two other classmates from 40 years ago - we spent two days at the Golden Spruce Cabins and were very happy in cabin #2. The food prepared by the owner, Patty, was excellent, and offered sufficient choices for us (two of whom are vegetarians). It was a quiet location, Patty was very welcoming, and made us more than comfortable. I highly recommend this outfit!!

A group of 10 friends - we stayed here for two nights during our trip to Wrangell-St. Elias NP. The cabins were very well-maintained and the service was great. Patty and Ryan were wonderful hosts. Patty is at the desk and she greets you with a smile every time! ||||Please note that the cabins do not have restrooms (they are in the common area) and they only accept cash (they have an ATM near the lobby).

We have stayed at Golden Spruce for many years and love our time on the property. The cabins are always clean and appropriately stocked. The owner, Patty, is an amazing soul and smile that lightens even the toughest of hearts!

Burger didnt taste well and was from purchased / ready made stuff.

We rented a cabin for 65,- a night for two - no shower, only 5 litres of water and shower was in restaurant house (good one).

Lady wasnt very helpful to solve our need drying / cleaning our hiking equipment.

Patty is wonderful! She bent over backwards to help us out! Cabins were very clean and comfortable. ||||The food was made fresh to order. ||||The place is very easy to find, right on the road headed to McCarthy and Chitina. ||||I highly recommend this place!
