Been going here for 17 years. With little kids, the playground, cozy living space/kitchen, and horses next door brought joy all week. As they grew we went more places like Blackwater Falls stairs and free afternoon concerts at the Purple Fiddle, started cannonballing in the pool, and rode the horses. As teens, every year we find more to do - Douglas Falls, star photography at the wetlands boardwalk, board games in Thomas. The resort is just perfect - nice to stay at even on a rainy week, especially with the indoor pool- and so much to do for hiking, culture, food, and really nice people.
Also this year some units allow dogs!

Tips: Make sure fireplace works, indoor pool open only when office is, great putt putt so bring golf gear, pucs seem pricate but just a couple of outdoor hot tubs...might wanna be close to one if into it...
Cool staff. Def a spacious bi-level well equipped condo and great value in a beautiful spot on this rock. Kitchen well stocked. Needs power washing and no fireplace action in 2 units despite pilot on when we tried (Thanksgiving sucked without fireplace and maintenance "off" - think they're about saving gas money personally)...brings down your vibe so 4 of an otherwise 5 star.

Box spring of the bed was already broken in half on arrival. Reported to front desk and there was no agency about getting it repaired. Photos included with timestamps so there’s no debating this happened before our arrival. Dishes in the cabinets were dirty. Sheets and pillow cases had noticeable stains. Overall was not the best experience and after reading other reviews I’m glad my photos are timestamped and I called the office to report the damage early.

UPDATE : charge for a tV I did not break will not be credited. Yes I did sign a form saying I would pay for damage I caused but I did not break their TV so just be aware and document room condition as soon as you arrive.

Take pictures of your whole unit when you check in and make sure you verify the operating condition of all equipment ASAP. We dscovered the master bedroom TV was broken -- screen had a smashed section --- only when husband felt ill a day after check in and wanted to lie down and watch TV. That was on a Sunday and the office was already closed. We reported it on Monday when the office opened again. We said we didn't need it replaced since we usualy don't normally use a bedroom TV. When we checked out Saturday November 11 we reminded the office person on duty about the broken TV -- this was a different office person form who was on duty previously and she had no knowledge that we had already reported it before. Monday after checkout I have a charge of $156.88 on my credit card. Contacted the resort and they say the TV's are checked after every occupancy, so we must have damaged it. "It's our word against yours" is their attitude. I have been an RCI member for over 26 years and have never damaged anything. Same with Air BnB stays --- always good reviews from the owners after my stays. I am disputing the charge on my credit card but I am not optimistic because "innocent until proven guilty" doesn't exist any more. If the resort removes its charge, I will update my review. Other than this very upsetting situation questioning my integrity, the resort is dated but serviceable and a good location for exploring the area. Just protect yourself from being charged for damage you didn't cause.

We stayed here Jan 2-5 and it was perfect! They had a good amount of snow ❄️ and we loved that it was a 3 minute drive to go skiing at Canaan and sledding at Blackwater Falls. We couldn't beat the location or the price. The unit was very spacious, simple, and quaint. It was exactly what we needed. The gas fireplace was so cozy and we spent a lot of time sitting in front of it. Loved that each room and bathroom had its own temperature control.

Place is 90s vintage. That was ok for us. Does need upgrading. You have to pay for internet and it's not good. Kept going out. Town is cute and I recommend the Italian restaurant in town. Excellent and not expensive. We had a 2 bedroom. Good for 4 people only. Carpet needs upgrading. Horse riding right across from the property. Recommend a 60 to 90 minute ride.
Took a train ride to go see Blackwater Falls. Train has lunch. Definitely worth the 4 hour ride. We went on a Sunday and walked around that town too. I would recommend for a relaxing week.

We stayed in G6. While it was a little dated, it was very clean and comfortable. Perfect location for our visits to all of the state parks in the area.
