I cannot give them a 1 star because I genuinely had an amazing experience the first and only time I've visited.
I had a visit planned this year and I had to cancel. I followed the cancelation policy and they still refused to refund me. This is not professional behavior expected of a business. Please be weary when deciding to have your stay here. You will have a great time but if you need to cancel, THEY WILL KEEP YOUR MONEY and refuse contact with you. They do not respect or follow their own policies. Don't fall for it.

They will not refund your money if you cancel within the time frame stated in their policies.

Had a lovely weekend at the Galena Inn! Interior of the mansion was impressive. Stayed in the Julia Suite. Got the best of both worlds - a feel for the 1800s coupled with modern bathroom amenities. Can't wait to go back later in the year to see the mansion grounds in full bloom. If you frequent the wrap around porch, you'll likely see a deer or two. Breakfast service did not disappoint. Coffee was from a local Galena roaster, which was good as well. The innkeeper gave us all kinds of tips - where to go, what to see in and around Galena. Fried Green Tomatoes was recommended, friendly service. Say "hi" to Helena at the bar. It was a great place to eat and hang out. Hit Otto's for breakfast one morning - a must! We also ate at Chestnut Mountain and caught a spectacular sunset view of the Mississippi! Thanks "Paulina and Helena in Galena" for making our getaway weekend so enjoyable!

As first-time Galena visitors, the Victorian Mansion exceeded our expectations. While the Lincoln Room had authentic Victorian furnishings, the bathroom was beautifully updated while retaining that Victorian charm. We have rarely had such abundant breakfast options with fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, quiche, "journey" pancakes, muffins, juice, mimosas and coffee. Overall the service was exceptional. We were thrilled to learn that General Ulysses Grant was a frequent guest in the Lincoln Room.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time staying in the Grace suite. The hot tub was functional and we enjoyed using it. The shower water pressure and temperature was awesome. The room was cleanly. It was heavenly waking up to the smell of breakfast. The breakfast was very good and our host Bets made sure we did not walk away hungry. Bets was very hospitable and does a great job of making you feel at home. The one drawback was that our room's fireplace was not working and the maintenance person happened to be out of town. That said, our stay was still very enjoyable. Also, Bets offered to let us stay another night for free and when we said we had to get back she was very lenient with check out time which allowed us to enjoy our hot tub and extra day. She also offered to discount our next stay. Our experience was very positive. We have decided that this will be our b&b choice next time we make it out to Galena. Thanks Bets!

This old Victorian home is beautiful. The owners however have no clue on how to decorate either a Victorian Inn or a modern Victorian inn. They need a decorator. The owner fancies himself as an entrepreneur that can wear every hat but redecorating this inn fell flat. We were denied breakfast even though it is a B & B. The service was so poor, basically non existent. I love Galena and have stayed in 8 separate locations there. I cannot recommend this one.

Walking through the door sets the tone for a visit to historic Galena. The house is beautifully and tastefully restored. Was hesitant to book online because you can’t tell if a B&B in an historic home is worn or musty smelling. Exceeded expectations. Victorian Mansion is classy and clean and comfortable. It is museum-quality beautiful but with modern amenities. Was on a “girls trip” with my mom and teenage daughter. We stayed on the third floor - climbing the winding staircase with luggage was a challenge but part of the fun. Bathroom was shiny clean and plenty big. Beds were very comfortable. Enjoyed the history of the house as shared by Aunt Sally. She and Betts were accommodating to the schedules of guests. They even supply insect repellent and cold water as you head out for a day of sightseeing! Waking up in Victorian Mansion was the perfect start for a day in Galena.

We seldom share our feelings about a stay but felt a responsibility to do so now. With great anticipation we stayed at the Galena Inn (formerly the Victorian Mansion) which was followed by great disappointment. We picked this B&B because our trip was last minute, it's proximity to Main St., and because of the mostly positive reviews. We stayed in the Lincoln Room. Two nights, 3/24-25/22, totaling $466.20. We ended up only staying one night. We were warned that once paid, there would be no refund. |Yes, we were expecting the “old world experience” (Otherwise why would you stay here?) but at this rate we did not expect there to be: several small bugs by the window floor (I can offer pictures), under the bed and behind the frame is very dirty, extreme coldness as the only heat source was from an ineffective little floor heater which we set at the highest setting (there are radiant heaters in the room and bathroom but they were not working), the bed was firm, the pillows were of very poor quality, and there was not one cup for drinking. Also, for varying reasons, we are use to eating breakfast at 7:00 am therefore we were unable to take advantage of the “modified breakfast”; we were unsure what this meant as all online searches listed the Galena Inn as offering a “full breakfast”. This Modified breakfast is only provided from 9:00-10:00 am! Having no one representing the Inn outside of “normal hours” is very unsettling as well. Very disappointed.

The Victorian Mansion is now known as the Galena Inn. Making the reservation was very easy and the room was exactly how it was described. We stayed in the Lincoln Room. We did not participate in the breakfast portion for we had already made plans to try some local breakfast places, we wanted to support the locals of Galena as much as possible. It was easy to find, a quick drive to Main Street - beautiful neighborhood to walk in. If you want to test yourself it is 225 steps down and up if you walk to Main Street the quick route. The rooms are beautiful, they do have a mini fridge to keep drinks or left overs in. The ONLY out of luck thing is we have a GMC Truck and the parking was a little tricky - they have spots in the front, but they seem more for the small or midsize cars.
