This place was great! The server was super friendly and great with kids. The chilequiles and tamales were divine. Probably wouldn't recommend the nachos (with shredded chicken) but I personally feel that's more of a "my kid made a bad decision with his order" thing and not the fault of the restaurant lol

Extremely friendly service. Excellent food and the atmosphere was welcoming. The establishment was very clean all through the building. Enrique gave us suggestions and also very immediate service.

Authentic Mexican food, huge portions very reasonably priced. It was a little hot, expected it to be cooler. When you first walk in the decor was different not like other Mexican restaurants, but then as you continued threw it kinda got cheesy. All bar tender/waiter was very helpful, courteous and very respectful.

We had Mexican Street Tacos. Nice size and very tasty. Seasoning on the Bloody Mary's was an interesting change. One of stops when we are in Hayward. It was too early for Margaritas but next time.

Should have been nervous when we were the only car in the parking lot at 3pm. The food was beyond bland and when I ordered nachos with cheese and beans it looked like someone just slapped it on the food. I don't like to disparage smaller restaurants however the food is just not good

I'm so sad right now.
I wrote a 5 star review for the first time I came here with a friend from out of town.
I have begged my husband to go for months and tonight? We went.
I was approximately 1/5 of the way through with my meal and my husband about 3/4. Suddenly, he exclaimed, "OMG!"
He proceeded to remove something from his mouth, which I assumed was a chicken bone. He dropped the biggest lug nut I've ever seen on the table, full of food. He bit down and will be seeing a Dentist ASAP.
I immediately called the Manager over and advised him as to what occurred. He merely grabbed it and said, "Oh".
We were then, quite obviously, done with our meal.
Approximately 2 minutes later, a Waiter came by with our bill and asked how everything was.
i, admittedly, became emotional and asked him if he was serious. He stated he was told about the incident and claimed it was from their meat slicer.
I simply have no words right now for how they responded.
We left both of our meals and left.
I cannot explain just how sad I am right now.
No. I will not return nor will I ever recommend going to this establishment when they're are so many other options in this area.

We are Hayward residents and visit Los Portales often. Service is excellent, food is hot, authentic in flavor (bland by the typical American’s standards, who seem to prefer everything over-seasoned) and arrives quickly. Someone mentioned Casa Mexicana in Rice Lake being well-run; this is not the general opinion of the locals there. Our extended families live in Rice Lake and will gladly travel here vs dining at Casa. Hayward is fortunate to have this sit-down Mexican restaurant.

Always a must stop every time we are in Hayward! The food is amazing and so rich.
Highly recommend the steak, it’s honestly one of the best steaks I’ve had. Any steak platter in the menu is great!
The workers are always so nice!
