If I could give more than 5 stars I would do so. A hunting/fishing trip to Alaska has always been on my bucket list and I was fortunate enough to go in December 2023. From the moment getting off the float plane I was in complete amazement, and the owners/staff treated us like family. The lodging is top notch, the 360-degree views are breathtaking, and the food is amazing! Every day was a wonderful adventure and that I will never forget! I can’t thank them enough for the experience and all the memories I now have. So, if you are trying to find your Alaska trip then stop looking and go to AWL and I promise you will not regret it. This was my first trip to AWL, but it will not be my last!

Afognak lodge is a true wilderness destination. My first trip there was a July fishing experience . The fishing was awesome, the lodge and cabins are amazing , the food was absolutely perfectly done with plenty to go around and the staff / owners all treat you like family ! Our group of 4 was searching for a new destination in 2021 and found AWL . Since that 1st trip in July we returned that fall {late} for a second visit, again in 2022 for a third visit and again in 2023 for 2 more visits ! I had done a wilderness fishing trip on the Nowitna river a few years back and fell in love with AK. Since my first trip to AWL , if you truly want a wilderness vacation with all the luxuries ,comforts and first class amenities in my opinion you must visit this most amazing and beautiful destination !

Such a fantastic experience! We stayed here five days and have decided there will definitely be a return visit. Gorgeous scenery. Comfortable (although not modern) cabins. Fantastic food. You will have the fishing all to yourself. We only saw one other boat all week. The boat captain was great and we caught our limit of fish. He was also good about taking advantage of wildlife viewing opportunities and catered to our preferences. We saw whales every day. We saw eagles and so many types of birds, deer, fox, otters, sea lions, seals, humpbacks, orcas, and porpoises. No bears, though. They are more visible in spring and fall. Only sparse internet at the dining lodge and none in the cabins. All the better to enjoy the peacefulness of the place.

On this trip, my son and I had a cabin to ourselves. If you want a remote experience, this is your place. We had awesome fishing, both offshore as well as in the streams. Halibut, lingcod, and rockfish were abundant offshore. We also had 2 good salmon days. The food was outstanding for the breakfasts and dinner. The staff was extremely friendly and engaging. Don't come here if you want to stay in the city. It is called wilderness lodge for a reason. But it has all the amenities you need. Cabins were comfortable and cozy. There is wifi in the dining hall, but not in the cabins.

I was there for 5 days. The lodge is more luxurious and comfortable than I would expect for a wilderness lodge. I stayed in a wonderful cabin. There is 24 hour electricity from a generator with a nice hot water shower. This was not roughing it. The food exceeded expectations as the Chef, Mark, came from the Ritz Carlton in Oahu. We had fresh Alaskan seafood daily. The fishing was great as well as the wildlife viewing. I caught halibut, ling cod and many species of rock fish. I saw over 40 Brown bears as well as seals, otters, sea lions, whales and bald eagles

One of the best vacation stays we’ve ever had. Hand built cabins, awesome meals, attentive staff. The best fishing I’ve ever witnessed, Jordan worked hard to get our limits of salmon and halibut. We brought home 200 pounds of carefully packed and frozen fish. The lodge was very accommodating and arranged for us to stay an extra day, making all necessary charter flight arrangements. ||||We saw bears, killer whale, humpback whale, eagles, seals, sea lions, sea otters, and deer. Beautiful island and fantastic lodge. The only complaint I can think of is that we couldn’t stay even longer!

The facility and Staff at the Afognak Wilderness Lodge were simply amazing. They are so accommodating and worked well with our family (with 2 children and a senior) to ensure everyone had an experience of a lifetime. The lodge boasted a rich Alaskan heritage and we felt right at home at their facility. We did several boat trips to go beachcombing, whale/ bear watching, hiking, and fishing. On our fishing trips we caught halibut, cod, rockfish and bass. We were able to take home a box of our fish that were prepped, packaged and frozen for us. Their amazing chef even prepped and prepared our catch for us to sample that night. ! The meals were gourmet luxuries for the adults, and he even modified some meals for our picky youngsters. I can’t wait to return to this piece of heaven. This is as Alaskan as you can get while still having the comforts of home.

3 of us had a fishing trip of a lifetime. Great guide with a solid plan every day to catch fish. Accommodations are authentic log cabins at a beautiful setting on a remote island with gorgeous forests growing down to the ocean.||Warm hospitality, great dining and all in a quiet, peaceful environment.||We fished 5 days and actually stopped fishing half way through the last day because we had caught so many fish everyday. Jordan took us to a really cool small river to see some Kodiak bears, which was incredibly successful watching bears catch salmon and even saw a family with 3 small cubs.||Lots of whales, even Killer whales that came very close to the boat.||I hope we can return some day, this was a dream come true.
