Great hosts, Wayne and Linda are always welcoming when we (large family) go. Typically north woods cabins and feel. Grew up vacationing in these types of cabins around the bonfire. Fishing is great since it’s part of the rice reservoir. Cloudy days bring out the fish and big fish too.

If what you're looking for is a clean, comfortable 1950's-style nostalgic Northwoods cottage, this is it. Functional, no frills....but vacationing on Lake Nokomis in cottages for many years, I felt transported back to 1958.
There was ample heat, modern fridge, enough dishes, pots, pans, & utensils.
This is the reason I rated it a 4 instead of a 5:
A few things that I wish we had known: if you want to barbecue, or cook at all, bring charcoal, foil, spices, oils, sugar, etc. Also, there are no wine glasses or a corkscrew. And most important, there is no dish soap, which we have never experienced before. We used bar soap to wash dishes. They have a disclaimer in the cabinet warning you that dishes may not be clean, along with a bottle of bleach and disinfecting instructions. They may have just as well provided a bottle of Palmolive from the Dollar Store. I just found that odd.
All in all, I would go back to Squirrel Haven!

Simple cottages with full plumbing and appliances. There is almost never anyone else around and if feels like you have the whole property to yourself. Wayne and Linda will absolutely go out of their way to ensure a great experience for a better price than you’ll find elsewhere.
