Inn at the River - Wausau, Wisconsin

We had a comfortable, relaxing trip to the Inn with another couple. We were able to reserve both rooms on the lower level and use the common area in between as our kitchen, living room and hang out space. Everything about the Inn is impeccable, clean, inviting and beautiful. Being situated on the river and experiencing a 10inch snowfall was just exquisite and we fully enjoyed our snowshoe trekking on the river and through the woods. Dan and Margaret are the most gracious hosts ever.

What a beautiful place for my daughter and I to connect, relax and enjoy all the Inn and town has to offer. The home and surroundings are beautiful! We enjoyed walking by the river and next time would love to make time to enjoy a bonfire. The delicious breakfasts were served in their cozy spaces, overlooking the river with a woodburning stove too. The room was so clean and inviting with everything we needed and the birdwatching from the sunny balcony was such a bonus! Margaret and Dan are such kind hosts and their dogs were so sweet, we wanted to take them home. :)|We will be back!

Margaret and Dan are absolutely lovely. Felt like staying with my parents everything was so cozy and breakfast was delicious! I wanted to get to Granite Peak at 8:30 to catch the first lift and they were so accommodating with getting me breakfast on time. 12/10 would stay again!

We were in town for a funeral and this place had a last minute cancellation, very happy we stayed here. The owners are great people, very welcoming. The location is beautiful and the room was perfect. They were also very accommodating with our dietary restrictions.

The Inn at the River was the perfect place to stay. We stayed in the Willow Room, and it was comfortable, cozy, and the fireplace was a beautiful touch. The view of the river is beautiful. Walking the trails on the property was so peaceful you could hear the wind rustling the autumn leaves on the trees. Theodore and Norman (adorable pets) greeted us each time we came into the home - such a fun pair! Dan and Margaret are excellent hosts with great conversation, delicious and filling breakfasts, and great coffee. The Inn is in a quiet area yet close to many amenities. We would definitely stay here again in the future. Thank you Margaret and Dan for a relaxing stay.

My only regret about a stay at the Inn on the River is that I only booked one night. The setting in nature was relaxing and invigorating. Dan and Margaret were welcoming. Room was beautifully appointed and the common area a place to really relax. Breakfast was notably delicious.
We look forward to returning for a longer stay at other times of year.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The room was very nice. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful and the atmosphere and hosts really made it special.
We would definitely like to revisit.

What a wonderful place to stay close to downtown, while still offering lots of nature and river views all in a peaceful setting. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the patio listening and watching the birds. The hosts, Dan and Margaret, are wonderful people who go out of their way to welcome you.

Our room was the Birch Room, which was immaculate, and was very homey and quiet. We loved the decor, along with the fireplace.

The breakfasts were amazing, and coffee was always ready for us.

We will definitely be back, and we strongly recommend staying here to others. .
