I booked a campsite and the caboose for my daughter's 4th birthday party. this happened to be on memorial day weekend. the site itself is lovely . and convenient. located right on the river.. campsites are clean and well maintained, as is the bathhouse/lounge. the owners are super helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. they also offer raft, and kayak rentals. the bathhouse/lounge is the cleanest public facility in which i have ever had the pleasure to shower/ expel bodily fluids. camp had electric hookups and is lighted by solar power. it is located withing walking/biking distance of a fabulous park, an adult watering hole and convenience store. it is within driving distance of other local areas of interest such as Thomas/Davis. be sure to check out the WW2 MUSEUM located in town and embrace the beauty and the inclusiveness of this little town... highly recommend!!!!!

Booked a stay for 2 nights, when I arrived the owner introduced us with a warm welcome. (very polite and professional man) We received keys to the bathhouse & lounge for our stay. The whole area is very clean and welcoming. Will definitely be making multiple stays. Highly recommended!!

Call for info on staying at the campsite that is adjacent to the lodge- I had a hard time finding camping info on their website but Tim can tell you everything you need to know. The Riverhouse was unique, comfortable, clean, and enjoyable. If you need a handicap accessible room, give them a call, they just finished remodeling another nearby home-turned-inn with wheelchairs in mind and it meets all those standards.
This is a small town and small business run by one person. Be patient if he doesn’t answer in the first call, or isn’t waiting on the porch when you arrive. If you have the time, ask Tim for a tour of Rowlesburg it has some incredible history.

I recently stayed here after getting caught in a storm while hiking the Allegheny Trail. The building is gorgeous, the bed was very comfy, breakfast was great, but the host and owner Tim was phenomenal! He really went above and beyond to help me out.

After getting caught in a terrible storm in a remote area of the trail I didn’t know what to do, I was soaked to the bone and freezing. My boyfriend was able to get in touch with Tim through the ALT website and Tim drove about 30 minutes 1 way at 8:30 PM to rescue me. He brought me back and gave me lodging for the night, then let me hangout until the next afternoon when someone was able to pick me up to get back on trail. Without his kindness and willingness to help I’m not sure how my night would have gone.

I highly recommend staying at River House if you are in the area or if you’re in the surrounding area and want to escape to the country for a bit. Great place!

A lovely guesthouse. Owners are incredibly kind and accommodating. Quiet comfort without modern day distractions. We enjoyed an easy walk to the river. If you fly fish you may snag some trout. We sat out on the balcony at night and enjoyed the clean crisp air until midnight. ||If you need elevators and TVS and things to entertain you…rethink what you think you need…it is so nice to harken back to an earlier time and just enjoy being!

We recently stayed at the River House Lodge. It is a beautiful old building. It’s a guest house with a lot of stairs but we didn’t mind one bit. Very close to the river and in a quaint little town. If I was in the area, we would stay again.

My visit here was a lovely experience. This beautifully restored Victorian Lodge, is located not far from the Alegheny trail and even closer to the Cheat River, and scenic drives through the valleys and up in the mountains! The knowledgeable hosts were warm and welcoming.
