This is the second time we've made a drive to Oglebay, only to find the mansion closed!! Very frustrating since the site said it was open. No employee in the gift shop or restaurant had a clue as to why or when. We walked around and enjoyed lunch at the lodge.

Very cool place with great history! The rooms are currently decorated to match modern Christmas movies... it might be cute for kids, maybe, but I was expecting more each room to be Christmas decorated in the period.

However, this museum is worth the stop. Wonderful place.

Interesting look into yesteryear's Oglebay family history. Rooms were decorated with Christmas movie-themed decor. A museum room also housed some Wheeling area history.

Decided to pull off and spend the night there after extreme traffic delays driving from DC to Dayton OH. We explored the next day and found it to be one of the nicest resorts we have ever seen. Gorgeous grounds. Rich history. Want to plan a family reunion there. Activities for all ages. Great variety of accommodation options.

Love looking at new glassware and beautiful trinkets upstairs . Downstairs in the glass museum was a fantastic learning experience on old glass with so many different types of pieces of glass to look at.

The museum is unique and gone through some background on the Oglebay family who donated the property to the State. It is a nice to do if you are visiting Wheeling, WV or even for locals. The view is good overlooking the park. The site is well maintained with good placement of various floral matching the area. Good to spend sometime there if you are in the area.
