We have been guests at Laurel Point Cabins twice and we adore this place, the cabins and Jim & Lorraine, the lovely hosts! We enjoyed exploring Monterey, climbing the fire tower and visiting the Jefferson Pools for a soak. The trails in the area are splendid and the views are heavenly. Lunch or dinner at High’s restaurant is not to be missed. The Curly Maple and The Third Space in downtown Monterey are both exceptional. Also, plan a visit to a working maple farm! We really love Mill Gap Maple Farm.

My wife and I stayed in the Mountain View room and and had a wonderful B&B experience. Jim and Lorraine are such warm and gracious (and hard working) hosts. I am generally not a breakfast person but I could not resist the the food they prepared. Much of the food is home grown and homemade, including the maple syrup. And the view of surrounding hills is breathtaking, particularly in the morning sunrise. We are looking forward to future stays at Laurel Point.

We have just returned from a three night stay at Laurel Point Retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the rustic log cabin offered. The cabin is clean and nicely decorated and has a small kitchen area and porch with seating. Heat was very good inside the cabin - got down to the twenties during each night. While you are totally disconnected from communications with the world in the cabin, it is so peaceful. Lorraine welcomed us graciously and we felt she was available for any need which should arise. She even left a note on our door when a bag was fogotten at a local merchant who called the Inn to let her know. ||||The merhant involved with the forgotten bag knew where we were lodging and spoke very highly of Jim and Lorraine, the owners. In fact, everywhere we visited when asked where we were staying, the positive reaction was always the same. They are very well-respected in their city.||||We traveled the mountain roads of Highland County and the foliage was still beautifull in the valley headed south to Warm Springs and Hot Springs. Absolutely ||gorgeous fall colors in the valley still remaining as we were unable to travel at the peak.||||Thank you, Lorraine, (didn't actually meet Jim, but heard good comments about him, as well)!||||We really feel we could not have had a better stay in the area.

We LOVED our stay at the Laurel Point Retreat this past Labor Day weekend! As we pulled up, we were blown away by the breathtaking views! The inn is perched up on the mountain side and provides stunning panoramic views. There is a lovely patio with tables and chairs and a few adirondack chairs for guests to use. We enjoyed our morning coffee out on the patio watching the sunrise. It was truly majestic. ||Jim and Lorraine were the most wonderful hosts! Coffee was ready at 7am every morning where we sipped from beautiful stoneware coffee mugs (thrown by Lorraine). Breakfast was excellent! Butter, jams and syrups all made in-house. One morning we had pancakes, bacon and potatoes. The next morning eggs scramble, homemade bagels, fruit etc. All delicious.||My husband and I traveled with our 2 young girls and my mom. We stayed in the Cape Room and the Small Log Room inside the main home. Our rooms were quaint, but lovely. We especially loved the feel of the log room - it was so charming and cozy. One day we’d love to stay in the log cabin.||Overall, we loved our stay! We were in town for an event, but we would come back in a heart beat just to enjoy the beautiful views and lovely home.||Thanks Jim & Lorraine!

I can't say enough nice things about this place and the people who hosted me.I got in very late, and they still managed to put me up in a cute little cabin called "the bird house". The night sky was unbelievable, I have never seen so many stars! The view in the morning was equally superb, fantastic mountain range, valleys; a breathtaking vista. As I was leaving, I realized I needed some tools to adjust the chain on my motorcycle, the owners were very accommodating in that area as well.

My husband and I spent two nights at The Laurel Point Retreat in October 2020. Lorraine and Jim couldn’t open the B & B (due to Covid) in their home but two cabins were available. We took the larger of the two. It has a fully equipped spacious kitchen, lining room, bedroom, bathroom and porches. The views, though, are from the porch at the main house. Everything was clean. The peace and quiet was welcome. Lovely place. Highly recommend Laurel Point Retreat!

If you wish you had in-laws who invite you to stay with them on their beautiful farm in the mountains, this is about as close as most of us can get. ||||The breakfasts are cooked to order if you have specific food philosophies, and what they eat themselves is amazing if you don't have any objections. I did a few overnights here years back in my undergrad geology research classes and recently returned to find this place was just as charming as I remembered. ||You will be roughing it a bit compared to a stay in the city, but the view from the breakfast nook in the main house is memorable enough to look past that, and there is not lack of amenities if you can stand reading a read book instead of being glued to a phone. ||Full seriousness, the hosts are the kind of people you wish you were related to.

My wife and I spent two nights here on our recent road trip in USA. We arrived late on our first evening and were made to feel at home by James and Lorraine. The accommodation is immaculate providing a great nights sleep. Breakfast with home made produce was amongst the best we have ever had in any hotel or B& B we have ever stayed in. The views and whole atmosphere of the place are something special and we particularly enjoyed our chats with our hosts and other guests when we gathered around the kitchen table. On stay gave us special memories we will never forget and when we left it felt like leaving friends.
