It was so bad that I couldn't stay the night. One window in the living room wouldn't open, one didn't have a screen. We needed to open windows to get the smell of the mold out. Yellow jackets were all over the floor, door frames, and light switches. There is a hole in the floor at the bottom of the steps by the entry. Don't worry, though, they covered it with a rug so that you won't know that it's there. Until you step on it. I tried to call the owners about the problem. I think the person at the answering service was on drugs. I got NO help from anyone to rectify the situation.

We stayed in the Depot Suite for 4 nights during Durbin Days Heritage Festival. The location was perfect. We were directly across the street from the fairgrounds and the Durbin Rocket. The rooms were very clean. The building is old but has a lot of architectural detail such as exposed brick and beautiful crown molding. There is no air conditioning but there are ceiling fans in all three rooms. As for amenities, the WiFi is very good, there is a small 4 cup coffee pot with coffee, etc provided, a microwave, and a small refrigerator. The breakfast provided each morning at Station 2 Restaurant was excellent! Overall 5 stars! Definitely would stay again!

We were in Durbin, WV in September 2016 for the Castaway Caboose and needed a place to stay the night before we boarded the train the next day. There are basically two places to stay in Durbin: the Greenbrier Suites and the Station 2 rooms above the restaurant. I really didn't know much about either place, but more about the Greenbrier than the other, so this is the place I called for reservations. ||We absolutely fell in love with this tiny home away from home. We stayed in the suite in the back of the building because there was a full stove to cook on and we had brought food with us. However, as we soon found, there were no pots or pans with which to cook food in!! But if you have tin foil, you can make a cooking vessel, which is what we did for our burgers. ||The sitting area as you enter the suite was adorable, the kitchen was good (except for the pots and pans!), the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was roomy enough. All in all, a very nice place to stay. There was no TV, which was fine with us. Yes, there are stairs to climb. If you park around back, you can climb the circular staircase directly to the floor where the suites are located and not have to go through the "house" itself. Again, we were there in September and it was cool enough. There is no AC in the suite, and this one is on the back side of the building away from the street and the sun. ||The next day, we had breakfast at Station 2 restaurant and discovered that their rooms are above the restaurant. The rooms at Station 2 are updated and are much like a room you would find in a motel/hotel. There were TV's there. So, you do have a choice of places to stay in Durbin. However, if you like a place with character and history, the Greenbrier is it. ||Chris, the young man who runs the Greenbrier Suites, was also one of the engineers on our train!!||This little town is full of super nice people. My review on the Durbin Railroad and Castaway Caboose gives a little more insight to the folks in the town. ||Would love to visit this place again. And it isn't far from Snowshoe Mountain!

Durbin is tucked away in a valley. It's a beautiful place. I was delighted to find the Greenbrier Suites in Durbin which was just across the street from the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad. The two suites are on the top floor of a three story building. Be aware that there are steps to climb to your room. We stayed in the suite at the front of the building which had a double bed and a sleeper sofa, a small kitchen/dining area, and, a bath with a shower. The other suite had a double bed, small kitchen with cook stove, and a sitting area, bath, and dining area. There is off street parking at the rear of the building. It was a peaceful stay. I loved it. Durbin is a small town so don't expect lots of restaurants. The station 2 rest. just down the block was okay. The breakfast there was pretty standard except the eggs were scrambled to the scorch level. The coffee was weak. Next trip, I'll bring my own coffee and brew it in the room. ||||My travel companion was bothered by the noise from the blower on the furnace. I heard it once before I was fast asleep. There are steps to climb to your room--one flight from the back parking area or two flights from Main St. There was no tv in the room, but there was wi-fi. There is no cell service in this area. ||||This is not a fancy place, but I liked it a lot. I would stay here again, and I hope for a longer stay. I would probably try to book the suite on the back of the building because I think it was be very quiet. There is truck traffic on Main St which seemed to go on all night.

We stayed in the front suite overlooking the train depot which gave an excellent view. It seems the building is undergoing some renovation, however the rooms, at the top overlooking the Main Street and railroad depot are lovely. They are clean, very comfortable and well equipped. There is a nice sitting area with a sofa that pulls out to make a second bed, it was missing a tv however, (had a cable but no tv). Kitchenette area with fridge and microwave along with crockery and cutlery and table for 4. The bedroom with bathroom were very well appointed and bed was very comfortable . We were advised to park around the back and take our case up one flight of stairs instead of the two flights of stairs if parked out front. however the way around back is quite steep and cars are in danger of grounding out especially when coming back onto the road. We parked on the main road in front of the building and no had problems at all. Only suggestion to be made is that renters be given info on how to access the building or how to contact the owners and how to leave the keys etc at the end of the stay as we had to ask the neighbouring businesses about what to do ( they didn't know and suggested we ask at the RR station opposit). There is no cell phone reception in the area so we couldn't ring to find out. Don't be up off by the exterior of the building what's more important is the quality of the rooms you would be staying in and they were excellent.

Our stay at the Greenbrier Suites was...interesting. This truly is a suite with a living area, dining area and separate bedroom. The lack of a tv and cell service was surprising. The Wi-Fi was good. We used our breakfast vouchers at Station 2 before our train ride. The reason I didn't give this a higher rating is because the bed was very uncomfortable - a new mattress needs to be purchased. 🙁

My boyfriend and I recently stayed in the Depot Suite, and very much enjoyed it. The suite is very clean and has everything you need to escape for a few days. There is a great restaurant down the street, that has some delicious home cooked food with lots of locals who are very friendly. We had never been to Durbin before and came this weekend to ride The Durbin Rocket. We would recommend a stay at The Greenbrier Suites, breakfast and dinner at the Station 2 Restaurant and a ride Sunday morning on the Rocket.

The suite was at the top of two long flights of stairs in a shabby, nondescript building. No maid service, no shampoo, no hair dryer, no A/C, coffee for one cup. Calls itself a B and B but there is no office, no food-there is a voucher for a breakfast entree at the diner down the street. We never met an employee. Seemed fairly clean except for the silverfish in the sink. Wi-fi was good. There is no cell service in this region. There is a pull-out couch in the living room and a bathroom in the bedroom. Right on the main road. Not sure what other choices there are in town. Might be a better idea to stay in Cass.
