It's a shame when you come to a restaurant to spend your hard earned money on a dining experience only to be given a nasty attitude by your server. Was never greeted when we arrived. Took 15 minutes before a server took our drink order. She never said hi or even introduced herself for that matter. Another 10 minutes before we got our drinks that NEVER got refilled. No ice in the iced tea.

The food was absolutely disgusting and barely lukewarm. They were out of 5 or 6 main dinner items and understaffed. It took forever to get served and the food was nasty. There were parts of a country fried steak breading and burnt cheese of some sort on my steak and cheese sandwich and I didn't order a country fried steak. Baked potato very hard and undercooked. The dried up filth on top of EVERY hot sauce and ketchup bottle was a big turnoff. Do your job properly and clean the condiment bottles often.
Never could get the waitress to bring us any salt. Had to go to other tables to get it and every single salt shaker was empty. That does not happen during 1 shift...that is most likely days or weeks of neglect. Although this place is really cool being next to a river, I will NEVER come here again. Just because you hate your job or are having a bad night DOES NOT give you the right to treat a customer badly. I blame it all on bad management. šŸ‘ŽšŸ‘ŽšŸ‘Ž absolutely and thoroughly disgusted with this dump of a restaurant.

Have eaten here now for breakfast and lunch. Today I had a fantastic burger. The River Burger. White American Cheese. Pickles, red onion lettuce. Hand patty that was really good tasting beef. Comes with chips. I did the upgrade for fries. My server (who was fantastic) said they were new. Some sort of batter- dipped fries. I liked them. If you sit near the window you get a heck of a view of the river and I believe it's the best view in the city of the river at an eating establishment. Don't miss the 50 cent bags of corn you could buy to feed the ducks. I'm pretty sure the money raised from the sale of said corn goes to the local humane society. Really need to come in warm weather and sit outside for a great view!

We have stopped to eat at this restaurant over the years. Always good food and service in the past. When we sat down the waitress told all the things they were out of. Well we just wanted dessert. Lucky for us 1 piece of cheesecake and 1 piece of pie were left. She served us but never gave us napkins. We finished and waited for the check. At this time another couple was standing near the register. They stood there for over 5 minutes. I got up and walked to the back where the kitchen was. I was yelling hello to get someone's attention but the radio was set pretty loud. Finally got the attention of the staff and our waitress came out. Apparently the staff were outside. Hate to say it but we won’t be stopping here anymore.

I've visited this restaurant several times over the past 15 years. It's definitely changed alot over those years. The food is good but not as it used to be. I think it's changed hands and that's why but not sure. Today, 9-29-24, we visited and ate here. I had the meatloaf with a baked potato and side salad with coffee. My husband had a Philly Cheese steak with curly fries and sweet tea. The food was decent other than my meatloaf was pink in the middle and my baked potato was cold but I ate it. My husband's sandwich was good but not much meat so it was alot of bread. Again it was good but could be better. Our waitress was nice but not very friendly at all. As always my favorite part of the visit is seeing and feeding the ducks. I didn't add any photos because I hate leaving negative reviews.

We ate both dinner and breakfast here during our two day stay. The service was wonderful and the food was great! The brisket nachos were delicious, the Alfredo was wonderful and each meal that our party of 6 had was great! The deck dining is simply awesome - especially first thing in the morning! At breakfast there was a really adorable kitty that greeted us shortly, which was a sweet addition to our delicious meal. The kitty didn’t stick around, and the waitress checked in often. I would certainly recommend this restaurant one million times over! Can’t wait to come back! 😃

One last huge bonus about eating here was getting to feed the ducks right behind the restaurant. You can buy corn to feed them, and our children loved it! It was a great addition to our stay & meal!

My family of four enjoyed dinner tonight at the Greenbrier Grille and Lodge, and we had a great experience. We did not have to wait for a table, and our order was taken quickly. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She had a great personality, and she did a great job. The menu offered a good variety of options, and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the chicken Alfredo and green beans. My husband had meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and corn. Our two sons both ordered the country fried steak and mashed potatoes. One had a side salad, and the other had green beans. Everything tasted great, and the portion sizes were just right. The prices were pretty much on par with other comparable restaurants. We are from out of town, but we will definitely eat here again the next time we visit Marlinton. I would highly recommend the Greenbrier Grille and Lodge.

Worst dining experience we’ve had in a long time.
When you enter you seat yourself. The table was dirty. The server greeted us, plopped down 2 menus and 2 forks, took our drink order and said she’d come back to clean the table.
She returned with the drinks and ran off without cleaning the table. It didn’t just need to be wiped down. There were still dirty napkins and silverware.
Eventually she returned and took our order. When my wife ordered the meatballs she said, ā€œI don’t do thatā€. What does that mean? Was this the owner and had she removed them from the menu? Did she personally have a problem with meatballs and refused to serve them? It was such a weird response.
We both ended up ordering the meatloaf.
She took the menus, still didn’t clean the table. And there was a pile of crap so it was obvious that it needed to be cleaned.
When she dropped off the food she still didn’t clean the table!!!
My wife asked for napkins (because we never got any). She said she’d get some — never did.
My wife ended up eating her applesauce with a fork because she was never given a spoon.
The meatloaf was fine. A little mushy, probably way more filler than meat. I didn’t care for the red sauce on it. The macaroni was barely warm. It tasted like watered down Velveta. The roll was bad. The mashed potatoes and gravy were actually pretty good — the only thing either of us liked.
This was just bad all around. Worst service we’ve ever had and equally bad food.
