A little nervous booking here based off reviews but we had no issues at all! We were so happy with our stay. We stayed in cabin #5 for a couple nights. The location is very convenient and I loved being backed right up to the woods. It was very clean and the hot tub worked just fine!

Our reservation for Oct 11 was cancelled by email at 8:26 pm on Oct 9. We didn't see the email. When we arrived after a 2 hour drive, the cabin has not been cleaned and the cleaning person said the cabin was shut down for bed bugs. A search for the email found we had been refunded our money. A phone call to ensure we knew our reservation has been cancelled would have been nice.
The cabins did not look well maintained. They are nicely nestled in the woods. Great location. I don't think we will trust them again.

Hello Jonathan,|We arrived August 30, 2024 and were supposed to stay until Sept. 1, 2024 but left on Aug. 31, 2024. We stayed at the Summit Cabin #1 and it falling apart on the outside. The gutters were falling off the side of the cabin and there was a washer outside on the side of the cabin. The grass had not been cut in quite some time. When we got inside the cabin there was a small AC unit that had not been turned on so it was extremely hot inside. It would have been nice if the cleaning crew actually turned it on before arriving. There were multiple things that did not function properly. 1. the hot water in the bathroom sink did not work. 2. the refrigerator was barely cold and would not recommend putting anything in it that would spoil. 3. some of the outlets did not work and they were covered with blue tape. 4. there were bugs inside the cabin. 5. no chain to turn the ceiling fan on. 6. the queen bed-we understand it may not be like the bed at home, but it is ridiculous to feel the springs in the bed when lying down. It is quite apparent that the mattress was VERY old.|We never leave bad reviews, but there were just too many things wrong. We are also owners of a condo and rent it out weekly. We also understand the upkeep it takes to keep a nice place to stay but this cabin is falling apart! The pictures provided on your website and listed here on Trip Advisor do not match what you will actually see when you arrive. That is VERY disappointing.| I also contacted Dan who was the caretaker of the property. I told him why we were leaving and never got a response. I was given a refund after contacting Jonathan.

We have stayed at Carnifex Ferry Cabins in Summerville several times over the last 10 years...absolutely loved their cabins... John and I booked this Friday and Saturday but we hadn't been there for a few years and unfortunately we didn't realize they had sold out in 2023! As soon as we walked in,there was mice...I can overlook that in a cabin in the woods but the mice poo was old and new.. then to the sheets 🤦♀️ I messaged him immediately and asked if there was any clean bed spreads and he answered that he was sorry and he would send housekeeping.. they never came.... the TV remote was broken so no TV and then out came the BEDBUG! Thank goodness our bags never left the kitchen table and we packed up and left and got home this morning at 2am 😭 I'm so bummed! I have messaged him asking for a refund but after reading Facebook reviews I'm guessing I'll never hear from him again...$500 lost!! As everyone knows we stay away A lot! And even if a little something occurs we can get past it... and I don't leave bad reviews but he's got a bit longer to respond or I will blast this all over!! We don't like to waste money!!

When we arrived, shortly after check-in, the cleaning crew was just finishing up. We entered the cabin and it had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. Presumably from the cleaners as they had an ash tray on the porch and a lit cigarette. The shower was not very clean and had dirt in it. There was no firewood, even though the description stated there would be an ample supply. I did contact the caretaker and he dropped off a small bundle the next day. The grass hadn’t been mowed in a while at our cabin site or at other sites. We had previously stayed on this property a little less than 2 years ago. We had no issues at that time. It seems that conditions of the overall property have deteriorated drastically. We were disappointed but did not let that spoil our trip.

Extremely disappointed
I am very familiar with the area.
Traveled there from Florida ,for a family funeral
I understand its a cabin in the woods.
The restroom had NO mirror, NO hanging hooks.
No shelfing or place to lay personal items.
Sink drain stopper was stuck closed.
Shower issues..
There was no fire wood for the 1st 2 days.
The fireplace had not been cleaned.
The kitchen table had some type of film .
The furniture is old and broke down.
There is more but I feel you get the message..
I called the owner Jonathan AND the caretaker with NO immediate response, Caretaker did respond on 3nd day AFTER a text( he has phone issues) and provided firewood
Owner never did respond.

DO NOT RENT THESE CABINS ! |**** THE WEBSITE PHOTOS ARE FROM PREVIOUS OWNERS/PREVIOUS YEARS / NOT CURRENT/ VERY RUN DOWN ||The BBB has been notified ||I’m attaching the email /text that I sent after our stay 7/24-7/29/24. Needless to say after reading other reviews I will not be contact from the owner, Jonathan. I also might add that the phone # left for mngt is missing a digit so once you’re on the property you’re SOL. ||Hello Jonathan, | We left this morning around 10am. The key is on the table. | After our 5 day stay, I'm thinking back about the condition of the cabin. When we first arrived there was high grass with many clover and bees and poison ivy all over the front porch… this was a great disappointment especially due to my son and mother being highly allergic to bees and ivy. When entering the cabin the air freshener that was recently sprayed was overwhelming; once it wore off there was a bad urine smell in the bathroom. Secondly , I know Mother Nature will take its course , but the amount of spider webs and very large wood spiders all over the porch as well as covering the sliding glass door was unacceptable . As a matter of fact, I was carrying a case of water one evening and as i was exiting the sliding door I became covered in a spider web w a large spider that got into my hair. Also, the porch rugs, ashtrays and charcoal grill were filthy . Third , we experienced rodents inside where there was rodent dirt amongst the dishes ,utensils /silverware . Prior to using any of the dishes or utensil's we had to wash them . Forth , we could not shower due to the hot water coming and going .; we had to shower at the campground after boating. We appreciate you sending Sam/maintenance, but he did nothing ( not to mention we had to tell him where the hot water tank was) my husband seems to think the regulator is bad which is why the water would go from hot to cold within seconds . Fifth , the first evening when we did shower , the bath tub fills up while showering and the sewage smell is awful inside and out. Also the same sewage smell is stippling when using the washer. Sixth , the cabin sleeps 6... everything was very clean and comfortable except on the first night when our 28 yr old 185 lb son sat down on one of the twin beds upstairs the box spring folded in half under the mattress. (I alerted you and you didn't reply) Thankfully the day bed was there or he would've been sleeping on a broke bed. Seventh , the front door lock was broke and my husband had to rig to open . (I'm not sure how safe I felt once he was able to open like he did ) Thankfully there was a deadbolt to lock . I alerted you of this as well... no reply . Eighth, the window air Condition unit does NOT cool the cabin and without screens in the windows the temp in there was very uncomfortable. It was 86/88 degrees Sat/Sun. Also, the black mold in the air conditioner unit is very hazardous , thankfully no one got sick . We have a rental cabin in Cook Forest, PA; we understand the importance of making sure our renters are satisfied with their stay. Under these conditions, we would RETURN THEIR PAYMENT IN FULL. It's very difficult to rent when you're not familiar with the area and the last thing we would want would be to ruin one's vacay due to the facility being unacceptably maintained . The cabins look to be "once" beautiful, but unfortunately are lacking upkeep and maintenance . Housekeeping was friendly and also commented what we experienced was unacceptable. | When spending $1085 for 5 days , one would not expect to have to shower at a campground , worry about rodents , (I forgot to mention we kept our dry goods in our car), cleaning a kitchen prior to use and sweating to death and hoping that our personal belongs are safe while we are away ... just to reiterate.|| Finally, I would appreciate a refund; I'm sure you will be in touch.

I have been staying in these cabins for several years now and have become increasingly disappointed. There have been several issues with cleanliness, one which involved mouse dropping found in the cupboards last year. I brought this to the attention of someone in management, and they said they would give me a 20% reduction on my next rental. This year when I rented a cabin, it looked like they were going to follow through. However, when the final bill was charged, there was no reduction. Nor was there any response to my emails. A call to the company just resulted in a pass the buck shuffle. At this point, I do not anticipate receiving any satisfaction. It is not about the money, but about a lack of integrity. Plus the cabin we rented still had cleanliness problems, like a toilet that wouldn't flush and a nasty smelling hot tub. Also the toaster was broken and I was afraid to use it. As for the toilet, a major issue, well...there was no way to contact the on site manager because the phone given on the welcome sheet lacked a full number. I will not be renting from this agency again. They have deceptive customer service and don't seem to care much about their property, which unfortunately has great potential. Hopefully, someone who cares will take over the place.
