Very nicely kept beautiful older craftsman with loads of charm and a delightful host Penny. The home is well located to downtown WallaWalla with tasting rooms and a wide variety of restaurants . Room decor was period style and the appointments could not have been cleaner and in working order. Penny is absolutely the kindest host and the breakfasts and home cooked goodies are top shelf. We would highly recommend this true bed and breakfast . S and L.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Maxwell House during a wine event weekend and loved it! Penny is a great host and served fantastic breakfasts. We had the large suite with a king size bed and a full sitting room. It was very comfortable and made us feel totally at home. In addition, penny makes a very large cookie for each guest which are a wonderful afternoon snack. We are looking forward to staying there again the next time we visit Walla Walla.

We were super blessed get this beautiful room as a day of booking at The Maxwell. The Proprietor Penny was so gracious and got us in straight away! This B&B is not only beautifully appointed but Penny's gift for amazing hospitality makes it totally next level. The college area here is so beautiful. It's wonderful to just sit.on the porch or walk-around and enjoy all the beautiful historic homes.
We felt completely comfortable and welcome at The Maxwell and would stay again in a heartbeat!

The Maxwell House Bed and Breakfast was simply wonderful!|Why?|1. The home itself is beautiful.|2. The grounds are beautifully kept, as well! With a lovely porch, too.|3. The innkeeper, Penny, is sensational . . . so kind, warm, friendly! Brava Penny!|4. Our room was so inviting and comfortable, with the fragrance of lilacs outside our window, which Penny opened for me, hearing that I love the scent of lilacs!|5. Breakfast was delicious and splendidly presented:| The full pot of tea was perfect. The icy cold juice hit the spot.|The small skewer of fruit was both beautiful and refreshing.|The main course of breakfast meat and cheese-covered scrambled eggs was hearty, and the tender breakfast cinnamon crumb cake was yummy indeed.|6. There were homemade chocolate chip cookies with milk when we arrived..||The Maxwell House Bed and Breakfast is a really lovely place to stay when you visit Walla Walla. We'd love to go back and stay with Penny!||We called her on the same day we stayed and she quickly worked to accommodate us despite being out at the time. This is our second wine tasting trip to Walla Walla and stay at the Maxwell House with our wonderful host, Penny. There are so many great things about a stay here. It is close to downtown for dining and tastings, but it’s in the historic campus area, so beautiful. Our preference is to taste at smaller countryside wineries, many of which are just minutes away to all subregions in the Walla Walla AVA. Penny is an amazing host. The Breakfasts and attention to detail are perfect can’t say enough. We will be back!

Penny and the Maxwell house created the perfect atmosphere to make you feel home, make you feel welcomed, and make you want to come back! The decor makes for the setting, a landmark which is captured the timeframe perfectly. Everything from the communication, greeting, manicured landscaping and decorating adds to the unique feeling that brings you “home”.

We stayed in the Rose Room and it was spacious, comfortable, private, and relaxing. Of course our main focus was the incredible wine tasting of Walla Walla but we quickly realized we were also there for some incredible breakfast!!!

We were lucky enough to book for spring release weekend and made connections that will last us a lifetime. Hours of conversation, excellent wine, fantastic stories of parenting, schooling, family, wine, travel, and even camping ;).

The house is set near the Whitman College Campus which blooms beautiful dogwoods and boasts architecture brilliance. Downtown is within walking distance and offers; dinners, shopping, wines and more wines. If you get lucky enough to book a room at the Maxwell House consider it a blessing and be prepared to book your next trip back as soon as you can!
