I've only had Hawaiian once before and this did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious and great portion sizes. I was actually in a rush and not expecting to be on that side of town for lunch and was super excited to finally get a chance to try this truck.

The wonderful women working today noticed I was in a rush and made my order delicious AND quick. I ordered steak as I needed something that would cook quick, but I deff wanna come back and try the Katsu. All around great visit, and I will definitely be back.

Fantastic food! Got a rice bowl with the Kalua Pig and it was so freaking yummy. Even their rice was some of the best I've had. Staff is also super friendly and helped me pick which meat to go for.

This is just a review for the food, the person there was cool. We are from the islands so we love to go anywhere that offers food from the pacific. This was a big let down. There was no flavor in any of the meat. We tried the katsu chicken and the hawaiian beef. The sauce they gave to go with it was quite literally just light soy sauce put into a tiny container. The masubi was like they just cut the spam up and put it on the rice. No seasoning on it and it wasn’t even fried down first. The mac salad was missing any and all seasonings. It looked like they just put mayonnaise with macaroni noodles.

Go to the Tropic Heat to get a taste of the islands. I had their Kalua Pork and rice and it was delicious! I like the sauce and green onions to put on top of the pork and rice . Thanks for great service .

i grew up in honolulu, hawaii, so i was excited to see a business offering local hawaiian cuisine.

when i approached the food truck, i ordered a plate lunch and two spam musubis. while waiting, i made small talk with the woman taking my order and asked if she was from hawaii or had ever lived there. her immediate response was, “oh god no,” followed by an explanation that their food was “hawaiian-inspired” rather than authentic. she went on to say, “we don’t cook pigs in the ground or anything—we use a slow cooker.”

i didn’t know how to respond. how can a business with “tropic hunger” in its name serve hawaiian plate lunches and then have such a dismissive reaction to a simple question about ties to the culture? she didn’t even mention having visited hawaii.

her comment about not cooking pigs in the ground was especially baffling. does she think people in hawaii don’t use slow cookers or have modern appliances? this stereotype felt outdated and offensive. it left me wondering how someone with such little understanding of hawaiian culture could serve food inspired by it.

as for the food itself—it was disappointing. the mac salad, in particular, was one of the worst things i’ve ever tasted. overall, the experience was frustrating and off-putting.

Ok friends after all said and done this was over $16. 4 chicken strips and a small handful of crinkle cut fries. I'm sorry but we will not be returning. This is most definitely not worth that price. These are not homemade or high quality fries. Heck the chicken strips are likely to be frozen. I would have dealt if there was a sufficient amount of fries to make up for it but nope. Don't waste your time folks just drive the extra bit to the food court place.
