We made reservations to stay here following an event at Embassy Suites. The event space was great and the event itself was well executed including the food and overall set-up. Biggest drawback is the hotel is a bit overrun with unsupervised kids everywhere and people who don’t understand elevator protocol (i.e. allow those in the elevator to step out before shoving inside) or hotel courtesy. A lot of the guests just seemed unaware that they are in a shared public space so wandering around in grubby pajamas, slippers or bare foot is not acceptable. Hotel staff should manage this. It makes for an overall poor impression. I guess this is what is meant by “you get what you pay for?”||Check-in was ok. When recaption told me the price, I was surprised as it was more than the price confirmation I received online. She explained Hilton always changes a $100 damage fee that is returned at checkout if there are no issues. We have stayed at a lot of Hiltons and have never experienced this. ||There are two elevators and they are incredibly slow. Once we dropped our bags we just used the stairs as it was easier and quicker than waiting on the elevator. It should be noted the stairwell is poorly lit and grungy. ||When we finally got to our floor, housekeeping was still being done and there were piles of dirty laundry in the hallway and the carts were literally blocking our path with mops hanging off the side. This was at 4:30 PM. My husband had to move the cart in order for us to pass by. The ice machine on our floor was not working so we went up a floor for ice. It was not marked as being out of order and not mentioned at check-in. Again, this is not the Hilton experience we are used to.||The rooms are suites so you have a couch, TV, mini fridge, microwave , sink, coffee maker, and table and chairs. The couch was pretty worn out and sagging. The ceiling is really low and the lighting casts a yellow/orange hue. The fridge and coffee maker worked fine. Everything seemed clean just kind of outdated and in need of a refresh.||The bathroom was spacious with a lot of countertop room which we appreciated and a slow close toilet lid. That is rare lol. The lighting in the bathroom was much better than the rest of the spaces. There were enough towels and they were good quality. ||The bedroom had popcorn ceiling and again the lighting was very poor. There was a full length mirror which was great. The bed was comfortable as was the bedding. When we went to bed there was some street/interstate noise so you may want to consider earplugs.||There is a bar/restaurant and you get vouches for two free drinks each. We did partake in a drink before the event we were there for and service and the drink was fine except they will not do a shaken martini if you use the vouchers. Very weird. They also have a snack bar you can partake in which included veggies with hummus and ranch dressing, peanut mix and tortilla chips. ||After the event, we went back for a drink with our friends. A waitperson came over and said it was two minutes until last call and then walked away. We all then just went to the bar to order. He came back about 10 minutes later and asked for our orders but we no longer needed service. Shortly thereafter a fight took place just outside the restaurant doors and we had a clear view from our seats by the windows. Three hotel employees went out, apparently just to watch as no one called the police. Eventually the person who appeared to have started the fight came back in, sat at the bar and was served a drink. That is also not up to Hilton standards. ||Highlight was the coffee. Everything else was cold. We did not wait in line for the omelette and just opted for French toast, eggs, potatoes and sausage. One of the utensils holders was partially empty and you could see the bottom which had hair and coffee grounds in it and other debris. We pulled a fork from an overflowing container as we figured the bottom of that container was probably filthy as well so it was safer to take from the top of the pile. ||At checkout, a large group of very loud people stood just outside the doors smoking. This is a non-smoking location and I didn’t see any ashtrays. It was not pleasant to have to walk through the smoke to get to our car. Staff should intervene when that happens and again this is not in line with past Hilton experiences.||Overall, we slept fine so if the event returns at this location next year we would consider returning but overall this did not feel like a quality Hilton experience.
