The prices oh my GOD. I'm from Seattle and these prices are leagues higher than the local cafes I typically visit. The pastries tasted like they had been sitting out overnight, they were stale and dissatifying. You can go to Tomato Street on Divison and get a heaping meal for the price of ONE grilled cheese. I will not be returning to this establishment. If you want a coffee and a meal, go to Tommy Gs or Morning Brew and you'll see much better service and prices. (P.S. It was also completely empty so I think the locals agree with me)

If I was going to dream about a bakery, or read a story with a small town bakery and restaurant, this is what I would imagine. The food is filling and incredible. The portions are so large I can't see how they can afford to serve it for such a bargain. Everything is deliciously fresh, but was at my table so quickly they must have known I was coming. Everyone was friendly and happy, employees and customers. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, yet bright and cheerful at the same time. I clearly can't say enough about this place. Why are you still reading? Go get some.

Good coffee, too

I am feeling tiprage on a $10 pastry purchase. The electronic checkout experience asked if I wanted to leave a $4, $6, or a $10 tip. The bloody pastry was only $10 and all the person did was stick it in the microwave. On top of that, the cheese Danish was the worst I have ever had. It was days old rubbery stale and tasted like flavored sugar and not a fresh flakey pastry. The coffee tastes like grocery store freeze-dried coffee and after effects feel simalair to drinking freeze-dried coffee. Nice ambiance but not good food. This is my second bad experience in only two times. I definitely will not be back.

Ugh, why do I allow this place to keep hurting me? Like any toxic relationship, over time the disappointment begins to fade, and narratives shift -- maybe it was me? Maybe they've changed? After all, this place has so much potential, so many locals wanting to support them, maybe I should give them another chance.
Alas, it is as disappointing as ever:
1. Cost. As many others have mentioned, this place is overpriced even by current standards. I eat breakfast out regularly throughout the region, nowhere else is it $30 BEFORE tip for a meal and a cup of drip coffee ($4.99, which is usually lukewarm). To make matters worse, the prices listed on the menu board are lower than what they charge you, and if you say something about it the staff just gives you that signature "stare" they are known for. Then, on TOP of that there's a (hidden) fee for using a credit card. Like magic, your $20 meal is now $25 before tax, and you haven't even tipped yet. They are so widely considered to be overpriced, it's kind of amazing they haven't figured out that maybe that's actually reducing sales/ profits?
2. Food. This should be #1, but I'm actually okay with some average diner food...if the price reflects it. Unfortunately, for $25 one definitely does NOT get anything resembling that price point - instead, what appears to be frozen chicken fried steak, average gravy (likely from a packet), biscuit that falls apart (not in a good way), overcooked potatoes (also from a bag?)
3. Ambiance/customer Service: this is what happens when someone opens a dining establishment with no experience because it's their "dream", then fails to properly train themselves and/or the young/desperately inexperienced staff on the quite complex world of "hospitality". It's just bad -- and the lack of music, or anything to read (not even the no-cost-to-the-owner Inlander paper) just makes it worse.
Perhaps nothing captures the current state of affairs better than the name of their burrito: "The Meat-iocre". I'm fairly certain they were going for "Meat-eoric" -- but it's so fitting that I chose not to say anything. Not all restaurants are destined for long-term success, it seems.
Unfortunately, I will have to wait to support this local small business any further until it has new ownership...I've given up on the current regime.

Lafevre St Bakery & Cafe is the PERFECT spot to go for breakfast! This cafe has definite curb appeal. It is such a great location and is well decorated. There is seating available to dine in or dine outside. I love how kind and professional the staff members were. My group ordered a horseshoe almond cookie that pairs perfectly with their coffee, a cinnamon roll (which was big enough to share, and a hot chocolate. They have bathrooms available inside as well as a “Kids Corner”. The food and drinks were honestly amazing and I highly recommend checking them out! I realized when we arrived that they also serve lunch and dinner.

We came in with a large group, 13 people. They took our orders and put delicious, hot food on the table lickety-split. We were impressed!

I've given this place a couple tries, every time the food is bland, foul, and mostly inedible. This last time we waited much longer than usual for our order, a burger and chicken tenders, which shouldn't take long. It seemed our order was forgotten until an employee saw us still waiting. The chicken tenders were burnt, as were half the fries. I don't know who saw that and thought it was acceptable to serve, but it wasn't. The burger was dried out, and somehow even the non burnt fries were also exceptionally dry. The brownie tasted like two months old potpourri, and had the consistency of dried clay. This dismal meal of a burger, tenders, fries, and a brownie somehow equated to $40.
Do not recommend if you have functioning taste buds.

My grandmother's maiden name is Le Fevre, so we had to check the place out. No actual relation, but there are moments of joy. The fish and chips are excellent, as is the quiche. We enjoyed the bon bons, and the pie as well.

The items are not found in the area very often so it's a joy to have them. The eating area is pleasant with a nice design around it. I enjoy the lights and decorations that show ideas from around the world of baking. The pistachio macaroons were quite pleasant with an Italian soda.

It felt English here, French there, and a bit of Italian snuck in as well. The food was enjoyable and the staff pleasant.
