I've had to stay here off and on over the past few weeks while I've been having some remodeling done at my house. It isn't older motel but it is kept up very very nice. The rooms are big they have a couch or a chair to sit comfortably the beds are comfortable the rooms are very very clean and well kept The staff has been more than accommodating and I feel safe when I'm here. Don't let the fact that this is an older property discourage you from staying here.

The location is extremely convenient, the rooms are spacious, the staff are extremely courteous and proactive. The furniture and fixtures in my room were all in good repair and well chosen for functionality. If you read the positive reviews I completely believe every one of them.

My experience was terrible.

When I checked in the key machine didn't work. We had to be let into the room by a staff member and never had a copy of the key for ourselves. It felt very insecure.

The curtains had gaps between the panels. I had to wedge them shut and hope they wouldn't fall out of position. I did not feel secure or private in the room.

One of the beds had stained sheets covered in dark splotches. The other bed had cigarette burns on the coverlet. I woke up with shoulder pain each morning from one particular extremely firm bedspring.

Although the bathroom and sink area appeared well cleaned the tile floor was slimy to the touch; when I put on shoes to avoid the sensation they lost traction. Perhaps the mopping solution has too much soap or the floor was waxed too much.

Those were the issues the hotel could directly control. I will not be staying there again.

Iv stayed here for as long as months at a time and as little as one night and no matter how long im staying i always feel welcome and consider this motel like a home. The staff is so great very accommodating friendly and understanding . There are so many hotels and motels in this area that i can choose to go to buy i always ALWAYS choose to stay here at the smokey point motor in . Uts got everything i need for a budget friendly price. They also allow cash payment and deposit which is super helpful . I feel safe here me and my furrbaby will always recommend anyone who asks where they should stay hands down GO STAY AT THE SMOKEY POINT MOTOR INN 😁 oh and housekeepers are so friggin nice and helpful if you need anything an extra towel or pillow any of them would be happy to get you anything you need. The front desk guys are so nice understanding very helpful and accommodating this place wouldnt be almost booked up every night if STEVE in the morning and afternoon and PETER in the evening and overnights didnt charm everyone with their amazing funny always smiling happy personalities chatting with anyone and everyone who walks in (uh hu PETER ) lol making them feel at home from the second the step on the property

The reviews claiming the place is dirty seem like they’re from people conflating “dirty” with “dated”. The place isn’t dirty, it just looks old because the paneling, carpet, and furniture and fixings and whatnot are clearly from the 70s. Our tub was mustard yellow and the paneling inside the shower was a charming “70s courtroom” brown.

The location is right off the 5, so that’s good.

It seems that a lot of people staying here are living here, judging by the multiple window cats we spotted. Contrary to what you may immediately feel about that, this can typically make a place safer, since the residents have a vested interest in keeping their community safe.

The guy who runs the place is very concerned with keeping the place safe as well. He is very serious about his rules regarding extra guests, and is very nice in general.

We saw absolutely no sign of anyone “sketchy”, and again, window cats.

Our only beef was that we prefer to sleep on very firm beds, and this bed was very squishy. Some people mentioned they enjoyed the beds, so it’s not necessarily that the beds are bad, it just depends on whether you like squishy beds or not.

Summarily, the place gives off a seedy vibe, but it’s all aesthetic. The place is actually well taken-care-of, and if you’re just needing a place to crash, it’s absolutely fine.

There’s a McDonalds and a Starbucks right across the street for when you get up and leave.

I’ve stayed here many times and for the price you get what you pay for. The one thing that’s always been an issue is if you’re here to visit family or friends they don’t let visitors visit that bothers me. My stay on 8/5/24 I found cockroaches eating my food at that point I couldn’t sit or shower I had to leave I went to talk to the office they said it’s just a summer thing. Absolutely not true. I let them know my food was now garbage and that’s a waste of money. They looked like they were trying to upgrade the room by adding a kitchenette but the only thing that worked was the sink the stove was not in working condition the fridge did not work but they still had the little black fridge that worked. The room was not cleaned very well i found a sock and candy under the bed a cigarette butt in the sink a box of condoms on the shelf and the beds had wrinkled blankets. They did not offer me any of my money back at check out the guy said next time I stay they will give me a discount I told him I would not be staying here again if one room has cockroaches they all have them. I’m totally disgusted with how they handle this situation. If you don’t like bugs don’t stay here.

So, this place isn’t a top notch accommodation. It’s dated, all the ac units are old but they work well. The beds were comfortable, the rooms very spacious and pretty well maintained. But for the price, you absolutely can’t beat this place. We had to stay here for… roughly three weeks waiting to get an apartment in Arlington. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Weekly rates are affordable. There were a good bit of sketchy people staying here but that comes with where it’s at, being right off the I-5. This place absolutely was a safe haven for us while we were trying to get moved, and I am extremely appreciative and grateful to the staff here.

I send truck drivers to this motel, and I can say they are great to us, allow us to check in early so the driver can get their 10 hour break and a full sleep to be safe on the roads. Drivers report the rooms are clean and the staff is very kind to them. I really apprecate this hotel for the hospitality they show the people who keep this country moving.
