I've been staying at this NGIS for 4 years now - it's not a perfect place, but a recent experience really made me appreciate staying here.
First off, there are a couple of negatives to consider. As far as I know, there are no elevators here, so be prepared to carry all of your gear up to the third floor. The biggest complaint I've had is that the walls are THIN. More likely than not, you will hear the person in the next room snoring, drunken sailors being loud in the halls, and sometimes even people playing music in the rooms above or below you. Nothing can really be done about that now, of course, but if you're a light sleeper I'd definitely bring a white-noise machine or ear plugs.
Now, for the good points: the views are beautiful, everything on base is a short distance away, and the rooms are typically pretty clean. I recently had an experience where somewhere between the NOSC (who makes my reservations) and the overall NGIS company, my reservation ended up being canceled without my knowledge. Thankfully, Stephanie (spelling may be wrong) at the front desk was extremely helpful and was able to make sure I got a room and that my overall experience was a pleasant one. It's things like this that makes me appreciate a place like the NGIS. Looking forward to my next stay!

I have been coming to this place ever since I was a little kid. My family and I have always stayed either here or Cliffside RV and we have always had such a good experience! Staff are amazing, dog friendly rooms, and a short walk to the beach is all a good stay needs!

If you plan on bringing luggage prepare yourself, there is no elevator. Hauling full suitcases up 2 flights of stairs was no fun. Walls are paper thin. Bathrooms seemed to have permanent dingeyness to them. Customer service was decent but seemed impatient. Housekeeping had no consistent stop in time. First day they showed up at 12 next day 10 next day 850. Price of each night stay would be the only enticing aspect to return.

My husband and I stayed here and it was clean and very comfortable. The front desk staff was helpful and kind. Within walking distance of the Wendy's. Looking forward to returning. I didn't give 5* because I wish they gave breakfast or more options in the vending machines.

Great use of old bachelor quarters. It’s comfy beds and basic barrack style. Fine for a TDY or other duty stay on NAS. Building is connected to the O-club (all-hands welcome) and it’s definitely got that old barracks feel, but it’s totally fine for a week or so on fire fighting school.

Overall decent, but not the best. Fitness room that is supposed to be here has closed. Room configurations are pretty slim and the rooms themselves are small. There are also no elevators/lifts here, and you have to go up at least a bit of steps. Unless you have something on the NAS here, I would suggest staying at the lodge on the other side of Whidbey. Not to mention this place doesn't look too great.

Make sure to dress warmly during your stay. You are unable to adjust the temperature in your room and I got to enjoy a balmy 65° bedroom temperature.

The hotel is clean, and modern. Hotel staff are helpful. Tip- try to reserve your room a couple of months ahead if you want to stay for a week or longer. The weekends tend to get sold out quick. They are pet friendly, and their pet fee per night is decent. There's no elevator sadly, but if you have a lot of luggage try to ask for a room on the first floor. Pro- they have a free laundry facility. Tip- Make sure you keep a timer for each laundry load because guests tend to get impatient & take your laundry out... Another option would be a laundry mat that is 15 minutes away. (all depends on traffic) Restaurants/Diners/Cafes are all 10-15 mins away which is convenient. Overall, our stay was comfortable, and quiet. ||Thank you Navy Gateway Inns & Suites!
