This place was great but aptly rated.
Pros:
- flavorful food
- good Irish coffee
- great atmosphere
Cons:
- slow service
- over cooked eggs
- Shakshuka should come with bread and not need to be ordered on the side
- took just as long to serve the coffee as it did the food
I would go again if I’m in the area but not a place I’m running back to. Over all, I wasn’t disappointed.

Love this place. They have an amazing grilled cheese sandwich. The cocktails are delicious. The staff is super friendly. It's my favorite place in Winslow. Don't miss it!

Family day on Bainbridge means lunch at Cafe Hitchcock. Even on a busy Saturday we were immediately seated and served. The menu is simple but delightful. Our table ordered the Pastrami sandwich which was nearly a Reuben, an enormous kale salad (yes, kale, it was awesome) a cup of creamy tomato soup, and the Carnivores soup which was a super yummy spicy stew. Service was fast and friendly and we had a lovely time. They were more than accommodating our gluten sensitivity with plenty of options. I’d deduct a half star if I could, though, because I dislike the practice of adding a non-gratuity surcharge to the bill.

We ordered the cafe salad which was very good and fresh. We also wanted a pastrami sandwich, but were told all sandwiches will be served cold since they don’t want the restaurant to get hot using the oven. So we had to pass on the cold sandwich. Went elsewhere for lunch. Service was good.

We stopped here for lunch during a quick visit to the island. Prices are on par with other restaurants in the area, and service was fine. They were out of pastrami so I ordered the roast beef, which was outstanding. My husband ordered a grilled cheese which was decent - though it would have been nice if there were a couple of other creative/hearty vegetarian options.

TLDR: excellent place to get a small bite, but a bit on the pricey end.

We ordered a breakfast sandwich, avocado toast and two cappuccinos - the food was absolutely incredible, great flavors and small portions. The cappuccino was average and perhaps not something I would order again.
