We stayed recently for the state dance competition. Our booking was made through priceline and it stated free breakfast but actually breakfast was $10 per person. I didn't find this out until our last night there due to plumbing issues in the bathroom. After a very long day at the competition we came back to our room and took a shower but it wouldn't shut off. I called the front desk to have them send someone to assist. The first maintenance person said that he turned it off as best he could but it would need to be replaced. I really didn't feel like moving rooms after 11pm but I wouldn't have been able to ignore the sound of the water going in the bathroom. After sending a second person to look at it and having them confirm that it would need to be completely replaced, that person and the front desk coordinated to move us 2 rooms over for the night and told me that we would get $20 off that night's stay plus complimentary breakfast for 2. I was a little surprised because I was under the impression it was free per my reservation. I was not provided the vouchers or told when breakfast ended either. We were very tired and went to bed so the next morning we decided to vacate the room earlier than planned, I walked into the lobby to turn in the keys and speak to the front desk about breakfast and to see if they could just compensate the breakfast along with the $20 towards credit of the room since we were forced to move rooms so late in the evening. The lady told me breakfast had ended about 30 mins before that time and wondered if I was expecting anything further other than her offer to release the $25 hold on my card. It's money that's mine anyway so what good was that offer. I really didn't think it was too much to ask to, at the very least, combine the $20 with the cost of the 2 breakfast vouchers which equals $40. She said she had to wait for some other person to arrive to do anything else but that I would be very pleased with the discount I receive. I just checked my card statement and the difference between the total from my booking and the charge on my card was a whopping $23.56. If that's the best they can offer for the inconvenience, I'll make sure to stay elsewhere next time.

I do hope you chose this hotel. I had booked a hotel down the road checked in on 4/10. I did not feel safe and I could not sleep due to the noise. I threw my bags into my jeep at 2am, and started driving toward downtown Yakima. I pulled into the Red Lion, I walked into the lobby and met Joseph. I told him what had happened at the other hotel. He got me into a safe, spotless, and comfortable room. Thank you Joseph and thank you Red Lion. I will always see your hotels as a safe harbor for me. This red lion should really have a higher rating in my opinion

Some cracks in my room, the bathroom floor and sink area. Found a hair on my bed, chalked it up as maybe a hair belonging to someone that was cleaning, not too bothered, then the next morning I go to take a shower and this is what was found. I wasn’t sure what it was, so I took some tissue to pull it and it was a clump of lots of hair mixed with goo and gross stuff. When I went to the receptionist to explain what I found on the bed and in the tub, explain to her wasn’t too comfortable with believing my room was cleaned. I showed her a picture, she thanked me for showing her, and said she personally knows the facility person, they normally don’t do this so it was not something that ever occurs. She took a picture and said thank you. Not an apology or even an offer to have someone clean my room. That would have given me comfort for the night sleep or even made me think she at least heard me. I wound up sleeping in my clothes, pulling the top sheet of the other bed and using that as a blanket. I normally don’t like to do reviews like this on my stays but I felt dismissed with sharing my concerns with the hotel staff.

WOW! I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels over the last few years… I have NEVER experienced the over the top customer service that I received from Joseph when we showed up very late hoping for a room. Joseph’s attitude, pleasant smile, and attentiveness to my needs, deeply succeeded the service I am used to getting from hotel front desk personnel. Not only was he an exceptional listener to my desires and needs, he was also an extremely efficient problem solver. Joseph delivers a level of guest service that should be modeled to train all future employees. I’ll absolutely be coming back to the red lion purely because of how professional and kind Joseph was to me in a sticky situation. 5⭐️

When I first got there. The staff was friendly and wonderful. When I went to the to to my room. Bar look outdated. Loved the idea of having a bar there. Maybe have a section of it where it's family friendly. I noticed the security doors to get in with a key didn't close very well. Doesn't feel secure or safe to a point. Got into my room and it smelled like mildew. Opened up the balcony, which I really loved having. The rooms, hallways and front office are very outdated. Beds were lumpy and caved in. Wasn't pleasant on my back in the morning. Had very old carpets. Need to maybe make it fake hardwood floors. Update the decor. Chairs outside of balcony are very old. I had to wipe them down with a bathroom towel. Breakfast was lovely in the morning. Pools weren't open either. I think I would of stayed in the holiday inn across the street next time. Reason I didn't to there is because the price was $200 more. But for all those reasons I think I old pay the higher price now.

The hotel room was disgusting. There was hair in the bathroom drain, diabetic pen caps behind the middle night stand. The comforter was super thin. The door to the balcony won't open. The white couches in the lobby are old and stained.

I rarely feel the need to write such a bad review, so I'll start by saying that the staff were friendly and efficient. And there was plenty of hot water. But otherwise avoid this place until the company invests in a lot of upgrades. This old shabby hotel needs a lot of work, including basic maintenance for security. The room smelled musty and like stale cigarette smoke. The handle and lock on the 1st floor patio door was loose, and the security bar was cheap aluminum. The room was poorly lit, which still didn't hide the peeling wallpaper, poorly laid carpet, and lack of full cleaning. The desk lamp had a mass of cobwebs on top of it and the shower walls had hairs on them. The bathroom floor had clearly not been carefully cleaned in some time with dirt around the edges. The window air conditioner unit was really loud, making it hard to sleep. The armchair was old and stained with use. It was like being stuck in the worst of the '80s. I never should have given the Red Lion another try and never will again.

It looks like a recent acquisition for the Red Lion brand. The restaurant and bar are only open on weekends so Dairy Queen and Taco Bell are the closest options. The convention center is right across the parking lot so extremely convenient. My room had microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator and a King Size bed. The Internet was useless but other utilities worked as expected. And the staff was friendly and helpful.
