The ambiance felt off from the start—flickering lights and an awkward interaction when we asked to move from a wobbly table. We eventually moved to an empty booth, but the waitress told us we needed to leave quickly because the booth was reserved in two and a half hours. We were surprised by the urgency but complied to avoid further issues.

The butternut squash bisque was very rich and sweet—almost reminiscent of a marshmallow and butter mixture used for rice crispy treats. I ordered the ribeye, but I didn’t realize the twice-baked potato came with pork. When I mentioned it, the waitress insisted the menu listed it, which it didn’t. At least she did offer to bring a mashed potatoes without pork, which was appreciated.

Overall, it was a disappointing night out that made us feel unwelcome.

Rockefeller oysters were good, the raw oysters were just ok. The chef special salad was good, maybe too much salad dressing. The Maryland crabcakes were excellent, filled with lots of crabmeat. Very close to the best we’ve had in Maryland. The coleslaw was bland, need some sauce. The shoestring fries were excellent. The shrimps & grits was very different in a good way, just wish more grits. Plenty of shrimps & the collard greens was a nice addition. Service was great. Indoor ambiance was nice. Outdoor seating looks inviting. Overall a solid 4.5 rating. They had couple specials on the menu like a ribeye steak and rack of lamb. Great location to a pay parking garage & in the middle of Old Town Winchester.

Went for happy hour specials and everything was great with fantastic prices. On Wednesdays you can order individual oysters which was perfect for my first time trying them. I wasn't a fan of the seared tuna, but the hush puppies were perfect. Will definitely be back to try some more dishes and give them a chance for the fifth star!

Cute restaurant with really kind staff. Everything was really great. I had the salmon burger special, and the only downside was the kimchi was too salty (and I love salt).

**updating after visiting again for dinner today. Changed the food from 4 stars to 3 stars. Unfortunately, the food at dinner was a miss across the board. The risotto and scallops were overcooked and under seasoned, and the cheesecake was horrible. Fortunately, we had an amazing server!

Service was slow. We were seated and then waited for 30 minutes for drink order to be taken. Not even water. They place was not busy maybe 1/2 full. Lots of staff. One staffer would walk up and down and take empty plates away every minute or so. After we were finally able to order, and the food came out the waiter dropped it off and walked away. We had to waive down the other waiter that was taking empty plates to get utensils so we could eat. Serving sizes were very small and way overpriced. I would not recommend to anyone.

Enjoyed our meal at the Village Square in the charming little town of Winchester, VA. Located in the Old Town, the restaurant offers a great variety of dishes. We lucked out that the special that night was a grouper dish with pesto risotto, which was fresh & cooked beautifully. The Argentinian steak with chimichuri sauce was a delightful burst of flavor. We had the General Tso’s shrimp which was equally delicious.

Our server Paul took very good care of us, ensuring our drinks were filled & we has everything we needed. We will definitely return when we’re back in town.

A last minute Wednesday night dinner at Village Square turned out as a spectacular decision. At first we had doubts when we asked the hostess if we could sit on the opposite side from the bar (South side of the restaurant) and she wasn’t sure and was confused.
Once seated the magic started. The Chardonnay was spot on, my Wife had the butternut squash and apple soup and then the had the Seared Scallops and said they were the best she had ever had (and she has had scallops at a lot of great restaurants). I had the mahi tacos and they were excellent along with the sweet potato fries. The HIGHLIGHT of the evening was dessert (which we rarely order but our server Jeffrey said it was epic) so we split the strawberry short cake!! It has to be the BEST strawberry short cake in America.
The setting was great and historic in a building built around 1800. Highly recommend the scallops and do not visit Winchester and miss the Strawberry Shortcake (you can thank me later because it is not like any you have ever tasted)!!!
