A Family Tradition for Over 20 Years

For more than two decades, my family and I have been coming to Golden Ox, and it has truly become a second home to us. As a family of five, we visit weekly, and every time, we’re reminded why this place holds such a special place in our hearts.

The food? Consistently delicious. Whether we’re craving their burgers and fries or trying one of their specials, we know we’re in for a meal made with care. The portions are generous, the flavors are always spot on, and the service is exceptional.

In a world where restaurants come and go, Golden Ox has withstood the test of time, and it’s easy to see why. It’s more than just a place to eat; it’s where memories are made, where traditions are kept alive, and where we always know we’ll leave happy and satisfied. First time here yesterday, had a decent sized portion breakfast and a great service experience here. Everyone working the shift on Sunday were great. I wanna say even the owner/manager walked out in the dinning area to ask how everyone and their meal/service was. Now that’s hospitality. The food was good, pretty neat to view all of the antique model trains there and one of the going around the track above head while you are seated. They have a nice sized menu to choose from. Even for being a location that has been around for many of years, the location was clean EVEN the restroom. I know we will go back. It seemed like a well frequented location.

Well… after getting off work in San Jose and dealing with a sinkhole caused traffic jam! 4- hours later I made it to Lodi! Went straight to Golden Ox! I was served the biggest Colossal CheeseBurger ever! After a long day and getting into town late and hungry! It hit the spot! The chili cheese fries were the best! Thank You! For the comfort food after a very long day! (Alarm goes off at 2:30 a.m.) Great seeing you guys again!

When I eat here I feel like I’m eating at my grandparents house as a kid. Awesome, tasty meals with large portions. As you might have seen in other review photos, there are collectible trains EVERYWHERE. Golden Ox seems like something between a regular sit down restaurant and a lunch diner.

The outside design of the business doesn’t scream HEY STOP HERE, but it should. Since this is on Highway 12 (Kettleman) it’s a perfect stop if you’re traveling Highway 12 through Lodi. It’s family owned and a long time staple of the city. I will always say yes if someone wants to eat here.

Don’t forget to ask the counter employees to activate the special model train that goes around the whole restaurant. 🚂

My husband, 1 yr old and I went and got 2 plates of chicken fried steak and side of eggs for my son. Everything was made quick and the service was lovely. They had no problem running the train for my son a couple times.
