Food flavor and portions were decent, service was great. The meat could have held a tad more flavor/salt and been a bit warmer. Garlic bread was yummy.

I discovered this place 2 years ago and since they are only open on Fridays,have only visited 6-8 times

Up until this last visit, I had enjoyed it enough to refer friends and post my delight on social media.

This last visit may be my last. Here's why:

I bought a pound of brisket and some pork ribs at 11 am and paid about $30.

What I got was the dregs of brisket that was shredded. No real slices and a a few globs of fat. Tasted like it was day old, and the pork ribs which I was looking forward to as fall off the bone, were tough.

I've had plenty bbq and paid less for better. Money is tight and I don't like feeling like I wasted it.

I went to an event that they catered and they were very professional and organized. Had plenty of food ready for the 80+ people that attended.

The BBQ itself, was pretty basic compared to a lot of BBQ places out there. Nothing too exciting about the ribs or chicken. Though I don't know what they do to their baked beans but those things are DANG good! The lady next to me I think had 3 plates full of them.

But overall a decent bang for your buck, just don't expect any new type of BBQ that you are just going to rave about to your friends or acquaintances.

We had a nice brisket and Hot links with a side of Cole slaw and cheese macaroni. The macaroni was hot creamy but the slaw could use a bit more flavoring. There was a big yellow sign to make sure you didn’t miss the entrance. You can order in advance after 11 a.m. to pick up after you finish work before six p.m. Will be back for more brisket and the tangy bar b que sauce. Yum

Hickory Hanks Bar B Q catered our Annual Summer Party for 100 plus attendees this month. The food was excellent and Hank and his team were experienced, professional and assisted us with everything from beginning to end. The staff contacted us the morning of the event to give detail as to how the day would go and to answer questions. They were prompt, efficient and worked independently to cook, set up and serve our guests. The Tri Tip and Chicken were perfectly cooked and seasoned, everything was kept hot throughout the serving time, side dishes were excellent and all leftovers were expertly packaged up for us. They cleaned up the kitchen and serving area and checked with us before leaving.

The staff was extraordinarily friendly and helped make our party fun for all of us. We highly recommend them and will definitely work with Hank and his team in the future. Thank you to Hank and his team, Creative Living Options, Inc. Management Team

Hickory Hanks catered our wedding in March, 2024. They were professional, prompt, and the food was excellent! It is so nice that they bring their BBQ and cook on site. That makes it especially nice for an event like an outdoor/tent wedding. Our menu consisted of tri tip, chicken, grilled veggies, mac and cheese, green salad, and garlic bread. Everything was great and numerous guests commented on how good the food was. We highly recommend them and will hire them again if the opportunity arises! Thank you Hickory Hanks!

First time visiting. Got the brisket and bbq chicken. Excellent flavor. Some of the best bbq I've had in the Sacramento area. Will be visiting again!

We tried the superbowl special and it was thoroughly enjoyed by our small group. All the meats and sides were terrific and with just the right amount of smokiness.
