Incredible place! So beautiful and relaxing. Our stay in the Blue Heron far exceeded our expectations! The house was immaculate and a very well equipped kitchen.
The chai latte was the best I have ever had and the breakfast bars were so good!
Don and Julia were a delight to meet.

This is a long overdue and glowing review of Strawhouse, chef Don, Julia and the accommodations I’ve enjoyed over the years. As an avid fly fisherman I’ve greatly enjoyed the location on the Trinity River for winter steelheading. The food from the cafe can accommodate most dietary preferences without issue - and is delicious. Definitely check out the private dinner option if staying overnight. Comfortable, well maintained, tidy, and centrally located to great fishing.

We came here before the monument fire around 2020. The pizza was so good I had to give it five stars. Amazing woodfire pizza that you get to see being cooked! I really hope the building didn't get damaged by the fire.

The cottage was very comfortable. The view and access to the River was spectacular. The Straw house coffee and food were delicious. The staff were very accommodating. Julia was beyond gracious. We will return. Other guests we talked to have been coming there over the past 5 years.

We stopped in for lunch and we were glad we did. The place is beautiful and we enjoyed a wood fired tri-tip pizza in the outside dining area overlooking the river. As we ate the wonderful pizza which by the way was excellent we watched the hummingbirds fly around while listening to the Trinity River as it flowed past us on its way to the sea. It is the most relaxing and tranquil place and would be a great place to spend the night. We were traveling to Eureka and if we had known about this place we would have booked a room. We had the Strawhouse blend coffee and it was excellent. We loved it so much we bought some to take home. I can’t say enough about this place as it is lovingly taken care of with beautiful gardens. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel like family. It is so nice to find an oasis like the Strawhouse Resort to make your vacation truly special.

Amazing hidden gem. Delicious pizza and food. The yurt is awesome and super fun. The peaceful riverfront is rejuvenating and Don and Julia are salt of the earth hosts who genuinely care about their guests. Highly recommend a quick stop or nights stay.

We have stayed for a week at the Straw House cabins on the river for the last 6 years. It is a great location. Cabins are clean and cozy with an excellent view of the river and grounds. The patio at the restaurant is perfect, because it allows great a wonderful view of the river and is peaceful and relaxing. The food and service is very good and the people are wonderful.

Stayed for a couple months while working in the area. Owners are very personable and involved. Staff is great, great service. Very reasonable long term rate. Would love to come back and visit!
