📌 Location of Oasis RV Park and Lodging

Oasis RV Park and Lodging

Oasis RV Park and Lodging, located at 156-174 Saipan Ave, Barstow, CA 92311, United States, stands as a notable accommodation option, primarily catering to recreational vehicle (RV) travelers and visitors seeking temporary lodging. While specializing in RV parks, the establishment is often described with the Hotel tag, indicating a level of service and amenities more commonly associated with traditional hotels. Its strategic location in Barstow places it in proximity to the USMC-MCCS (Marine Corps Community Service) base facilities, which is a significant factor for many of its guests, as access to the base is frequently required to utilize the lodging services. The contact number, 760-577-6418, provides a direct line for inquiries, booking assistance, or addressing concerns, although reservations or entry might be restricted to individuals with base access or specific permissions related to the USMC-MCCS.

Location and Base Connection

Nestled within the town of Barstow, California, Oasis RV Park and Lodging benefits from its close association with the USMC-MCCS base. This connection is central to its identity and operations. Guests are often informed, sometimes implicitly or explicitly, that access to the facilities might be contingent upon having permission to be on the base. This isn't necessarily a barrier for everyone; indeed, the reviews suggest that the accommodation is primarily intended for personnel, contractors, family members, or visitors officially approved to be stationed or work at the Marine Corps Base China Lake or the Edwards Air Force Base vicinity, as Barstow serves as a support hub for these installations. The proximity to these military installations offers a unique service niche, providing comfortable and potentially discounted housing options for authorized individuals. The physical location is conveniently situated on Saipan Avenue, making it relatively accessible for those navigating the Barstow area, though travel to and from the base itself is likely the primary purpose for most visitors.

Accommodation Type and Characteristics

The core offering of Oasis RV Park and Lodging is centered around providing quality RV park sites for motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. Beyond that, the establishment extends its services to include traditional lodging, often categorized under Hotel, offering an alternative accommodation style. Reviews frequently highlight the quality of these Hotel rooms, suggesting they are a step above basic military or budget lodging. One guest specifically mentioned staying in a room called "Daggert," describing it as "Super clean and modern. As nice as a Hilton hotel room." This comparison underscores a significant strength – the facility apparently invests in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, modern decor, and amenities, creating a welcoming atmosphere for those who can access it. Amenities might include comfortable bedding, modern furnishings, and potentially shared facilities like laundry or internet access, although specifics can often only be confirmed upon direct contact or booking.

Customer Experience and Reviews

Word-of-mouth and online reviews provide valuable insights into the typical guest experience, although the information is often filtered through the lens of authorized visitors. The establishment boasts 22 reviews on Google My Business, with an average rating of 3.8 out of 5 stars. This score suggests a generally positive experience among its regular clientele. The comments frequently echo the themes of cleanliness and modernity. A guest staying in July 2024 praised the "nice rooms" and compared them favorably to a standard hotel chain like Hilton. The use of phrases like "Eat your heart out, chair force" (likely referring to the comfort typically found in standard chair travel gear, implying a comparison favoring this lodging) reinforces the positive sentiment. Photos shared by guests further substantiate the claims about the room quality. While the rating isn't perfect, hovering around the 4-star mark, the consistent praise for cleanliness and comfort indicates a reliable level of service for those who are eligible to stay. There might be fewer reviews from the general public due to the access restriction, potentially skewing the perception for non-military visitors.

Information for Potential Guests

For an individual seeking accommodation in the Barstow area, particularly if they have access or permission to the USMC-MCCS base, Oasis RV Park and Lodging presents a viable option. It's crucial to understand the access requirement upfront. One should verify their eligibility or seek appropriate permissions before attempting to stay. The primary contact point is the phone number provided (760-577-6418). While the official website link (barstow.usmc-mccs.org) directs users to the USMC-MCCS lodging page, direct calls might be the most effective way to inquire about availability, room types, pricing, and the specific process for securing a room. Booking might need to be arranged through base channels or specific reservation systems known to military personnel. The relatively high rating and positive feedback regarding cleanliness and room quality suggest that for authorized guests, Oasis offers a comfortable and well-maintained place to stay compared to standard military quarters or basic motels. Prospective guests should be prepared to demonstrate their authorized status or affiliation with the relevant installation. The overall impression from reviews is one of satisfaction with the quality of the accommodation provided to its regular clientele.

You must have access to this military base to rent a room. Holy cow these are nice rooms. Eat your heart out, chair force. I stayed in the room called "daggert". Super clean and modern. As nice as a Hilton hotel room. See my photos. Stayed July 2024.

The base itself has been a pleasant surprise with a modern, well-equipped fitness center, super nice tennis court, clean, well-maintained bowling alley, a cafe  and a very nice, well-stocked commissary appropriately sized for a smaller base. The campground itself is nothing special, but is safe, quiet (except for highway, but no biggie), has free laundry (2 washing machines and 2 dryers) and the RV hookups work and have good water pressure. The pads are a bit narrow and no tables. We have a 26' trailer and there was barely room to park our truck. We started our stay with one night of dry camping while we waited for our spot to open the next day. This was all the way to the left of the lodging office on a slanted pad, but nice to have. The campground is mostly longterm residents with a few spots for "overnighters." Word of warning, there are a ton of giant sand spurs, so make sure to check your shoes often and don't walk through the medians! Also, cigarette butts are all over the place.

What a nice place and obviously out of the way. We met family in Barstow and I made reservations for 2- 2 bedroom suites. They were outstanding. Everything new and clean and spacious( No hair blow dryers). There is a fitness center on post, small but very adequate. A small cafe open from 6-1 basic breakfast reasonably priced. This is a very well kept secret and for anybody traveling thru and needing a place to say (very reasonably priced) I would call them.

RV park has nice large concrete pads; however, they aren’t even close to level so you will need to raise the front of your rig A LOT. Rough parking lot to drive into, but good for a stop over if you’re passing through. Staff is friendly and there’s a gas station close on base that’s cheaper than on the economy typically.

Dog poop everywhere and no one cares. Not their problem. Can’t use the dog park. Washer broken, so one working washer. When loading someone came in to start laundry, I said hello and I got glared at before they stormed out. Rude people all through base and town.

Large, single room. Its actually a 2-room suite. No TV in the bedroom (which is my preference.) Room design was poorly thought out. Theres a sink in the BR. But the toilet is its own room, nearly 10 steps away. The coffee maker is the the LR, probably 20-25 steps - through the bathroom! to the bedroom to get water to fill the coffee maker. Staff was very pleasant. The only problem I ran into was making reservations. This location is not staffed 24/7. If you do not call while they are open, you will not get a room.

The outside of billeting in Barstow does not look so nice. But don’t let this fool you….the inside of the units are IMPRESSIVELY SPOTLESS, Marine Corps squeaky clean😀! A definite compliment to the lady who cleans these rooms. I think her name is Alicia. The units are like little mini suites. The bedroom is separate from the living area. It has a microwave and a little mini fridge with a big screen TV and cable. It looks like these units have been recently updated. In the separate living area is a pull out couch, perfect for a family of 4. Previous to our stay here at the Marine Corps Base Barstow, we had spent 7 hours in 117° weather. We had mechanical problems with our motorhome, and while waiting for a tow, both air conditioners went out so we had to sit in our Prius for 4 hours. The manager of billeting is named Hannah. She was so incredibly nice, kind, and compassionate. They close at 4 PM but when I didn’t show up by then (due to multiple towing issues), she called me and actually WAITED past her regular hours so we could check in. Apparently, the other lady at the front desk (Who is also the same lady who cleans the rooms ) does this very same thing for people. Hannah even turned on the air conditioning in our room so it would be a cool place for us to be after terrifying ordeal we had just gone through. In this day and age, where everyone seems to do the least amount of work possible, this wonderful person went above and beyond and autographed her work with excellence. I would not hesitate to stay here again. I absolutely love our Marine Corps family. I feel like they are so much more service oriented and I’ve always come across extremely kind people on military bases. Most everyone I’ve encountered seems to understand what the word respect means they exercise it . The civilian world could learn a lot from the way it’s done in the world of our Armed Forces.
