Great place. Reason for 3 stars is that our room had no shampoo or body wash (the dispensers were empty). I asked a few times for these to be refilled (we were there two nights) and they never got filled when called for next day for house keeping service. Very beautiful and historic place. Other issue was when we were at the bar and trying to close out the bar tender went over us a few times, where it became noticeable. Newer people would get drink orders while we were just waiting to close out on first drinks.

We had a wonderful experience! The inn is inviting, and social. The communal events and areas prompted fun conversations and interactions. The bar and restaurant were delicious with a great selection, and the staff kept the fires roaring.

Our room was comfortable and cozy, with a gas fireplace and view of the local mountains. The bathroom could still use a few improvements.

The beautiful historic Inn is an old family favorite going back in our family history to the late 1940's.
It has been over 20 years since my last visit, as life sometimes gets in the way. The hotel, staff and the wonderful ambiance exceeded expectations.
The meals were solid and a few if the dishes were really exceptional.
The new addition was wonderfully done and only adds to overall experience.
Thank you Benbow for a wonderful trip down memory lane.

This immaculately preserved relic of the roaring 20s is an utterly charming and elegantly designed and appointed Grand Old Hotel. May I say~ and borderline extravagantly~ decorated with it's original furniture~and charmingly softly subtly and perfectly illuminated with one of the most gorgeous array of vintage lighting fixtures under one roof. One mighty many gabled castle like towering roof. Has to be experienced, do not miss. I have always seemed to come when Tina is at the front desk. Her courteousness and calm competence and straightforward to-the -point instructions and advice are a breath of fresh air. ☆☆☆☆☆ for her! My go to for the perfect getaway anytime. Breathtaking beauty and scenery pervades it inside and out and it's environs. So grateful for it's flawless management, stellar staff, and proximity.

This historic inn has done an awesome job of preserving their history and historic details. The great room has extensive hand carved woodwork and period furnishings. We enjoyed looking at the historic photos and reading the captions. Beautiful landscaping and flowers surround the well maintained building. The 2018 expansion blends into the historic structure almost seamlessly both inside and out. Our room (in the original portion) was typical of historic inns in remote places--it was clean, smelled clean (not musty/ heavy) and met our expectations though expectedly a little small, and the bathroom was perfectly clean though not unexpectedly was in need of a refresh; and plumbing noise from the hallway was weirdly continuous and might bother some people, and the mattress was overly soft/fluffy for us. We had breakfast at the inn, which was good food and a relaxing setting, but perhaps underwhelming for the price such that i probably would have planned a different breakfast for our trip. I didn't compare pricing for rooms in the new wing, but would guess that would be a needed upgrade for some people. We loved this place, wish it continued success, and will surely return, but agreed on 4/5 stars rating for this review. My sister reported loving the pool and hot tub on a separate trip.

The Inn is beautiful. Lovingly cared for and restored. We stayed in a suite with the copper tub which was wonderful however there was a constant fan noise in the room and bathroom that was never addressed. This is the ONLY nice place to stay.
The bar is cool but know that all the food is over priced and mediocre at best. If you’re a spoiled foodie, you’ll be disappointed.
Don’t rely on going to the outskirts or other towns for food either. Food either sucks, is closed or someone from “the Hills have eyes” is making your dish.
We expected so much more out of the Avenue of the Giants but were met with disappointment and lots of questionable characters in the surrounding areas.

The fireworks were amazing and the D.J. played really good music. However, after paying 400 for a room and 300 for dinner it would have been much nicer to have no food in the dance room rather than water-logged hot dogs floating in murky gray water and plain buns it was an insult to the guests that were dancing to have to even see such a crass offering. Other than that everything else was wonderful, Sincerely Mr. and Mrs Sperrico!
