Hungry Valley SVRA was great during the first week of April, 2024. $5 per car for day use and $10 for overnight. The day before we went it rained pretty heavily, but it was not muddy at all. The place is mostly sand. There were a few standing puddles and the traction was great. No dust as the ground was moist. Portions of the beginner trails were what I consider Intermediate. We were on WR426f and a YZ85. For example, Pipeline Rd. Is a sandy wash and was difficult for my son to ride, while Cottonwood trail leading up to Meadows trail intersection is Intermediate due to the steep banked switchbacks. I wish there were more beginner trails to take my son on. I couldn't explore the Intermediate trails, since my son is new to riding.

Reservations? I've been riding here my entire life, never once had to make a reservation. You now need reservations to ride for the day. At least a "hey next time you need one". Just turn around and go home. Absolutely asinine.

Always our go to for off roading, trucks, atv, dirt bikes, jeeps, atvs everybody’s in here living it up lol. We’ve had some of the most memorable moments here. Please inform yourself on guidance, hand signs, trail difficulties, how to seek help if injured, keep tabs on where everybody is at in case of emergencies, and have so much fun. So many different camps to choose from and so much landscape to discover!

I can see why this OHV is rated number four In the United States. This certainly is the pride of California state parks. First, the facility is well-maintained And free of trash and debris. The vault style restrooms are immaculate. There are several dry campsites throughout the park. The campsites have cover, fire pit and picnic tables.
There are hundreds of trails to be explored throughout the thousands of acres. The areas are marked with signs indicating the degree of difficulty for each type of vehicle. One of the big benefit is there is trails for every skill level, from beginner to expert. I would strongly recommend that you get a map upon entry at the kiosk. This place is a bargain at five dollars a vehicle.
Be warned that Gold Hill Road is a Public Roadway and off-road vehicles are not allowed to drive on it other than to cross the road between trails. Highwinds are not uncommon on the Tajon pass so be prepared. I’m convinced you could spend days here exploring the trails and not get all of them. If you go on a weekday you may have most of the place to yourself.

So my husband and I drove 2 hours to get here only for them to tell us we cannot enter because we have to make a reservation now, we told them to let us in because we didn’t know and next time we will make a reservation, they did not let us. The guy said proudly that he let 30 cars who came before us leave and sent them home because they didn’t make a reservation which is now a new thing. Also they claimed proudly that the park is full so they can’t let any car through anymore to enter, when this huge ass park can fit the whole of California in it. Thanks for making California a hard place to love and continuing to offer your “control” I hope my review reaches your biggest head to read .

What an awesome place. So many trails we only explored a tiny portion as we had limited time. The picnic areas have some shade and everything is kept clean and neat. We will be back.
