Get yelled at for browning coffee beans, get attitude at the register, get skimped on your order and have it be incorrect. This place is an LA clone invasion nightmare. Light ice got me passive aggressively under filled liquid gold, no lavender syrup, and a big smear of cream cheese and chive on the lid, you know, for the aroma. My workplace ordered for us. Normally I would never.

The Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant was as good as I hoped it would be! Every bite was heaven!
Twice-baked chocolate croissant filled with hazelnut praline cream & topped with toasted almonds, powdered sugar and dark chocolate.
My husband ordered the Figueroa coffee & he keeps saying that it was the best coffee!!!!
Parking available in the back. Restroom available for customers. Plenty of shaded seating outside too. Overall a perfectly pleasant experience.

I tried the cempasuchil coffee and it was meh. Croissant was meh too. The interior is gorgeous and the ample outside seating is nice.

Overall I love this place but the DJ today (march 15) needs to turn down the music!!! It’s cool Brazilian jazz stuff- I think it’s some Gilberto Gil playing- but it’s way too damn loud for the space. It’s making people have to speak even louder than normal to be able to hear each other; also when you walk in from the street the noise is overwhelming…

Very cute , cleanly, friendly coffee shop. I loved the mission statement at the entrance made me want to come in. We ordered the Figueroa and a vanilla cold brew and chocolate croissant. The coffee was good and if you’re a huge coffee fan you’d like it.

How do you create a coffee shop that caters to the Highland Park crowd? Civil has the checklist: boxes of fresh coffee beans for $25, check! A drink menu that makes me veer from my staple cortado, check! Two random bowling balls next to the cream and sugar, check! I love this place, love their coffee, love the adorable young lady taking the orders and most of all love the Figueroa!

A very popular coffee shop in the area with long line! Ordered an espresso and an apple crumble pastry, both are very good.

The setting is more up-scale and fancy yet very comfortable to hang out. Will definitely come back again!
