When planning a Central Coast getaway for Thanksgiving week, the accommodations choice for Paso Robles was easy...A return visit to The Piccolo! This small and quaint boutique hotel is located right in the middle of everything! The best restaurants, lounges and clubs are minutes away (when you actually want to leave the hotel...). Our pre-arrival requests were addressed and we received a warm welcome by Cammie at the front desk. We also had the pleasure this visit to meet Martin Beckett, Director of Hospitality. You can see why the Piccolo staff is so enthusiastic and accommodating...It starts at the top! The rooms are configured in a way that make them feel larger than they are (I say that as an Architect...) and there is always a welcome treat and lovely bottle of wine waiting for you. A plentiful breakfast buffet is offered every morning and does not disappoint. We are currently searching for our next home in Paso but for now...The Piccolo feels like home to us. Highly recommended! ||PS...Already planning our next visit this spring...Can't wait!

First off, I’ll start with the good. Great location, the person that checked us in was super friendly, great breakfast and clean rooms. The rooftop bar was nice (cushions could use a good cleaning as all of them had stains or were dirty, but the staff were friendly and the drinks were good. Did not have the wine tasting but what a great idea for the guests. We knew we would be drinking wine all the next day so we opted out of that. Now to the not so good. We realized very quickly that our toilet was good for 1 flush and then you had to wait for an unknown period. Possibly an hour or more, not real sure and we didn’t time it. When my husband called the front desk, they told him they would have someone come look at it. We were gone a 2-3 hours for dinner and came back and no one had come to look at it. He called back and let them know no one had come by and that’s when they said that it’s just a slow filling toilet. He proceeded to tell them, no it was not and there was something wrong. They sent someone to look at it and the worker told us that they knew something was wrong with it and they didn’t have the parts and he would have the front desk call us. The front desk called us and said we could go to another hotel (next door) or stay and use the hotel bathroom and they would give us a $150 credit. I was not about to pack my stuff up at night so we opted to figure it out, which we did. We wound up filling the tank up with water from the sink via the ice bucket every time we needed to flush it. How do you not have parts to a toilet? Also, how do check someone in knowing that the toilet doesn’t work. A better way of handling this would have been telling us up front and giving us the option to check in next door while it was day time and not 8pm and having us figure it out on our own or use the hotel bathroom. They said it would be fixed the next day. Saturday we were gone ALL day wine tasting. Got back to our room and still, no one had been there to fix it nor had anyone reached out to us. My husband went downstairs and they moved us to another room with a working toilet. Another downfall would be any room on the 3rd floor. The rooftop bar is on the 4th floor so good luck falling asleep before 12am.

The hotel is appears newish, and is quiet, cozy, comfortable, well appointed, and well maintained. The staff is very friendly, professional and helpful. The location is great; lots of stores, coffee, shops, wine tasting, and restaurants within close walking distance. The hotel offers valet parking for free, but we found parking spots right in front of the hotel without any problem. There may be other good places to stay in Paso, but this is where we will be staying next time we visit.

We had a wonderful stay at The Piccolo in Paso Robles for wine tasting and exploring the area. The entire concierge staff including Annabell, Grace and Rachel were a great source in suggesting a winery route, site seeing must dos and restaurants and then making all needed reservations. Jon at the front desk welcomed us and was also helpful. Loved the happy hour and turndown service. Highly recommend The Piccolo. Plan to be back!

Housekeeping-Terrible. Upon arrival a sheet was missing. Next day our 1/2 full dirty coffee cups in the room were not replaced. ||Amenities-I can't recall the last time I stayed in a room that didn't have cotton swabs. The pillows were awful (solid piece of cotton or foam, not shredded for flexibility). ||Room-Reasonably spacious. No art on room walls. Cheap furnishings, nightstand didn't sit level unless it was moved too far from the bed. Nice clock. Closet had about a one foot rod to hang garments. Limited electrical outlets. There was a Keurig coffee maker, but bring your own coffee pods (I didn't like theirs). Luckily the has Casting available to the TV. ||Hospitality-Valet staff kept this from being a one star rating. They were great! The front staff were meh. One of the gals spoke so quickly that I had trouble understanding her. When I complained about housekeeping, all I got was "I'm sorry, I will note it," but didn't ask the room number or my name. ||Value-At $600 per night on Friday and Saturday, I expected much more. Better pillows, ironed sheets (appears they use "no wrinkle sheets, but they had wrinkles and looked slept in upon check-in).||Concierge-They recommended we eat at Parchetto Bistro. It was OK, but didn't live up to the hype. Also we received three separate texts from the hotel at inopportune times to welcome us.

They cancelled my room even tho I had a confirmation number. They offered no explanation at all and said they were totally booked. We went back the next day just to see if someone else could help us understand what happened and they said they would check into it but we never heard anything back.

Charming boutique hotel; extremely comfortable rooms; amazing bed linens and roomy bathroom. Beautiful rooftop bar and a vending machine with Champagne! That’s a first! The breakfast (included) is ample and covers something for everyone. Plus a complimentary welcome tasting on arrival! This is my favorite spot in Paso Robles and I can’t wait to return.

Not worth the Exorbitant price. Northern European-style feel (rooms surround patio which has a nice feel to it with natural social noise), and bad service and amenities also feel European (non-functional, non-existing). High American price. Contrary to the reviews which mislead me, this is not an upscale boutique. ||The good: you don’t see cleaning staff anywhere, even on day of checkout, so it feels like your own place. Privacy is honored. |Full length mirror with adequate lighting for make-up application. ( and you will need it because the bathroom is not a good place to do this) |Excellent TV, all cable Channels, and smooth remote for navigating channels, hot water kettle in room with mugs! Great quiet high-quality refrigerator. No microwave.|Awesome location. Quiet neighborhood. Small hotel makes it easy to navigate. Parking on street can be easy on weekdays so not forced to valet, but it’s there if you need it.||The bad: Not dark at night with too much light even with blackout curtains.|Very Uncomfortable sink, uncomfortable outlets for charging or for hairdryer-you need to move furniture to access. Not built by anyone who has personally stayed in a hotel. Room does not feel welcoming and I wanted to leave.| Impossible for hair or soap to fall off your body due to the low water pressure. You will waste more water in the end because you will be in there for an hour trying to finish your shower with the trickle of water.|Do not book if you want to shower. I would never book here again. ||Front desk is just there for a job but they don’t understand the hotel industry (which is fine, but if you have a problem, it isn’t). No response if you need anything.|Bad service and overall amenities are not convenient. Best people there are outside near the valet, the Doormen—they are awesome. But does that matter once you step into the hotel? Place does not feel welcoming, but it isn't horrible. Would have been good for an average price.
