We've been to Paso Robles half a dozen times, and this is probably our favorite place to stay. It has the cutest vibes and some very nice design touches throughout. ||The room itself was comfortable and a decent size, and I really enjoyed having the fireplace controlled with the flick of a switch. Our room came with a cute little lawn out front and a hammock. I really enjoyed taking in the morning sun and drinking some of the provided coffee. The pool area is super vibey and channels Palm Springs. The bar at the pool was staffed by very friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. It was a bit annoying that everything out there closed at 9:00 p.m., so we missed our chance for the Jacuzzi.||Probably the only blemish was that there is no bottle opener in the room, which makes even less sense being in the wine country. While I'm at it, the pool bar did not serve any Paso Robles red wine by the glass, which seems like a little bit of a miss given the location and/or trying too hard to be different. ||Oh and one other weird thing. When you arrive at the hotel, it's actually very hard to find where to go and check in because there's a complete lack of signage around any of the entrances. There is one very small sign painted in a way that makes it difficult to read from afar. Upon making your way to the reception for check-in, make sure you do not hit your head on the incredibly low awning.

Well done boutique motel. Great pool, poolside dining and bar, and over all ambience. They’ve created a comfortable place that encourages relaxation and social interaction (if you want it). The staff was friendly and helpful…even energetic! Great decor, good music, serene vibe, and well curated books…which if you start reading you can take with you for a modest fee. I will definitely be stating here again and I’m actually forward to it!

It is a wonderful wonderful stay. I stayed 4 nights. Enjoyed the hammock, the fire pit and the pool bar, pool and hot tub. Realized that there was another fire pit. So it’s really cool how they create a few gathering holes to throughout their hotel. It feels extra cozy and on a sunny day, the hammock is so comfy to use. I love how you have a front yard and a backyard. I felt really relaxed while I was there. Kudos to the management and staff for making such a naturally fun atmosphere. It can also feel very intimate.

Definitely a place to visit again.

Oh and I wanted to appreciate the guy at the front desk. So helpful and welcoming from day 1.

River Lodge is a gem of a motel. The kind of place you hope stays affordable and adorable. This was our second stay within this string of motels. Our first stay was at the Farmhouse closer to the town square. Both locations were well kept, employed friendly people, and were photo worthy. The rooms were clean and spacious. The beds were cozy, and the amenities were just right for a motel. We’ll be back!

I almost didn't want to write a review because I don't want the whole world finding out about this gem. If it was in Palm Springs, it would be a total hipster magnet, but in Paso it ends up being a super-cool, well-designed and relaxing place to stay with superb service, a great restaurant and good amenities. It's also a 5-minute drive or Uber from downtown Paso. Staff was excellent! the poolside bar features an good selection of drinks too.

Our first time staying here and we loved it! Totally redone “retro” motel. Great location and the staff was very friendly. Rooms are very nice with very comfortable beds. Didn’t use the pool but it looks to be the place to be in the summer. We will stay here again next time we are in Paso Robles!

The landscaping is absolutely stunning, creating a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding. Quiet and tranquil—ideal for those looking for a kid-free escape.

Dining at Ciao Papi was another highlight. The food is exceptional, and the service matches the quality of the cuisine. Whether it’s a full dinner or a quick bite, the restaurant hits all the right notes.

Speaking of service, the staff throughout the property were warm, professional, and attentive, ensuring every need.

It’s rare to find a place that delivers on every aspect of a stay, but this renovated mid-century modern motel truly does. If you're looking for a peaceful and beautiful getaway, this is the spot.
