Got here on a Saturday night late from flying 26 hours back from a NAVY deployment in Poland. I paid to extend my room but i made a huge mistake. I wish the guy who helped me last night when I checked in was here. He was nice, helpful, and made me really like this hotel. Todays experience was the exact opposite. After paying to extend my room i was told i had to pack up and leave for a few hours. It is actually harder to be mean than to be nice. I paid in full for two nights. This hotel is half empty. I just want to know why the power trip? Do you treat all service members coming home like this? Its Sunday.
**Update** when checking out today, the manager offered me a free night to stay there. Although I couldn't stay, it was a very nice gesture. Thank you!!

I have stayed here many times before Covid. Thought it was great. Now that I have stayed here in 2025, I have to say my stay was excellent. It was even better than before. Love that the roomed have been completely refreshed. No carpet, nice floors, step in shower, very clean, wonderful staff. The breakfast was great. I will definitely be back.

Very pleased with our stay here and would confidently recommend it!||I’d booked our stay here in a rush and didn’t think to check reviews on TripAdvisor beforehand. Shortly before our arrival I checked and was very concerned by the awful reviews! So I’m making this review to reassure anyone who saw those reviews-This hotel has been remodeled and our stay has been terrific!||Very clean and cozy. I feel like we’re staying at a friend’s house honestly. The sheets are soft, tub was clean enough I took a bath in it which I NEVER do, the floors and everything are immaculate. Breakfast was good, even if you have to take it back to your room.||I held back a star simply for the fact that our gps kept confusing where the entrance was, but the parking lot is well lit with plenty of room. Also, breakfast would be more convenient if it started earlier and you didn’t have to eat in your room, but it really wasn’t that big of a deal.||This was the cheapest hotel in the area, and I don’t think we could’ve asked for more…except there’s no hot tub which is usually a solid requirement for my husband. But the bed and pillows were very comfy , the ac/heat worked perfectly, our stay was peaceful, staff was friendly, and all in all it was a very pleasant stay! Oh and btw, there’s even crown molding. That impressed me so I’m throwing it out there lol.

I have to say that this place has moved up in quality since it became a Choice Hotel.
Myself and family members have stayed at this hotel when it was call the Mt Vernon. Locals still at times will refer to this location as the vern.
The day and evening shift people have changed for the better.
Neil is the best, and Ralph will help you with your stay if you need it.
The rooms are clean and equipped with working appliances.
If you need to be in the downtown area of Escondido I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Was there and the front desk called me to in form me of a loose dog. Being an animal lover, I went outside snd meet another guy trying to catch him before he went into the street. Got bite by the dog. They won't take any responsibility for the accident, not even sorry! They are a family run business and as soon as I got bit they kicked me out. I would Never recommend this hotel as it's not clean, and they are not Professional! Disappointed, as Sorry goes a long way, Dog was saved.

Positive: Good price, good location Negative: Breakfast was scrambled eggs, sausages, and waffles. Everything had to be carried back to the room, because there was no other place to eat. With 2 plates, juice and coffee, that was 2 trips per person per day. Also the shower head was only 5 feet high.

This review is for the Escondido location....
When I checked in around 3ish, the staff was professional,friendly with a smile and a great additude.
And when checking out after 9 A.M. the same professionalism, great attitude with a smile.
The rooms are very spacious with more then enough room for two people and very clean.
And the morning breakfast is very yummy with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and blueberry waffles with coffee and orange juice.

Overall, not bad for the price. The bed was comfortable. The biggest issue I had is they don't offer hot breakfast until 7:15 a.m., which is pretty late if traveling on business. They do offer a grab-and-go breakfast, which has a yogurt, and apple, and a non-edible roll. Breakfast included eggs, link sausage, waffle, and two-cereal options.
