For how slammed they were on a Sunday around 11am the service and food were excellent. Snagged a tasty Bloody Mary to go along with the Corned Beef Hash. Very good, nice cut on the corned beef (not too small so the meat doesn't get lost) and perfectly cooked and seasoned potatoes that like to be bottle fed some Tabasco hot sauce. The Maria's French toast also did not disappoint. Try the "Flight of Bacon" if you feel a little adventurous - also nice with the Bloody Mary.

The food was delicious, we had carnitas chorizo egg stack special and eggs benedict. This is a local favorite and been in business for 30 years. Great atmosphere. If you are in hurry this may not be the place, it seemed a bit slower pace. We waited about 40 minutes to get served and that is why I gave 4 stars on service. Otherwise the service was fine.

This place is a gem and a favorite for so many. Food and atmosphere is always pleasent. Love to come here on rainy days and sit by the fireplace. Love to try their daily specials which are made from scratch, fresh and sustainable ingredients. And yes, the drive from Sacramento is so worth it.

A lot of food options, place was crazy busy and filled up in an instant after we sat down.

Lots to look at around the interior.
Prices are reasonable

Kind of a fun place to go to

We have been wanting to try breakfast here for a minute, finally made it this morning to celebrate my kids' birthday. The inside is spacious so even though it's busy and there may be a wait, it won't be very long. The menu covers a variety of breakfast and dinner plates. I tried the Banana and Pecan waffles, my daughter got the Eggs Benedict with potatoes, and my son (a picky eater) tried the fries - they were really good, very crispy. Everything was good and we all left with full bellies. (:

Will be back!

Hubby and I ate here for our first time on Friday. I had the Gorgonzola salad, and he had the pork BBQ sandwich. Wow. We were so impressed, on our way back home today we stopped for breakfast.
See photo of my crab cake Benedict. The crab cakes were fried and seasoned wonderfully. Hollandaise and poached eggs, just perfect. The potatoes weren’t overly salted, crispy and a great pairing with the Benedict. We are fairly picky when it comes to what we consider ‘great’ food. Awful Annie’s exceeded expectations, and will now be our go-to place to eat when we head to Sacramento or San Francisco. Just absolutely delightful. Friendly staff, adorably decorated with a ‘homie’ feel, and very clean.

Memorable name for a wonderful restaurant. Convenient location off the I-80, it’s a great pit stop on the way to Tahoe. Many classic American breakfast/brunch dishes to choose from, and the gourmet sandwiches were all delicious. Friendly and efficient staff.
