I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Agave Taqueria in Grass Valley, and I must say, their carne asada burrito was one of the best I’ve ever had! The flavors were incredibly rich and authentic, and they happily accommodated my request to add grilled serranos inside, which gave it that perfect extra kick. Every bite was packed with deliciousness. I’ll definitely be coming back for more! Highly recommend for anyone craving quality Mexican food.

Asked for breakfast during lunch hours and they were happy to make a one off Chorizo and egg plate. Very nice of them and yummy!

Disgusting Experience & Terrible Customer Service

If I could give zero stars, I would. While biting into my burrito, my husband suddenly told me to stop—there was a bug crawling on my plate. I immediately felt sick to my stomach, and our entire family lost their appetite.

When we approached the employee at the register to let them know, instead of addressing the issue professionally, he questioned our integrity and didn’t believe us. After insisting he come to our table, we showed him the bug, and only then did he acknowledge it, saying, “I’m sorry, that’s never happened before.”

What made things worse was their response. Instead of making things right, they offered me another burrito—as if I would want to eat anything else after that! When we declined and said we were done, they only offered to remove the burrito from the bill. We explained that no one in our family was eating anymore, yet the employee still refused to comp the entire meal and only took 10% off.

To top it all off, we left the restaurant only to realize they never returned our credit card. When we went back to get it, the manager simply handed my husband the card without an apology, without a word—nothing. And to make matters worse, she gave him a mean look on the way out.

This was a disgusting, unacceptable experience, and their lack of accountability and poor customer service made it even worse. We will never be back, and I highly suggest others avoid this place unless you want to risk finding a bug on your plate, being treated poorly, and having your card carelessly forgotten.

Had a family feel when I walked in.
Friendly greeting. Both from front staff and delicious smells.
Chips are crispy and taste fresh. Salsa is medium heat with good flavor. Guacamole tastes amazing and fresh. Has hints of cilantro which I LOVE!
I ordered the shrimp tacos. Two good size tacos with 6-7 well seasoned shrimp per taco. My opinion of the beans is that they could use a bit more flavor. They had a bit of a soapy taste to them. The rice was good!
The service was friendly and professional. I didn’t feel smothered or neglected, just right.
Overall, a lovely evening in a local family favorite. I will be back. Thanks, El Agave.

Stopped in here for some burritos, made to order and pretty quick. Thought the guacamole was good and the food generally good flavor and a good tortilla. Would definitely return.

Excellent…. Some of the best authentic Mexican food in Auburn!! The restaurant was beautifully decorated, clean and inviting. The cashier was sweet. I’d definitely recommend this place to my friends and family members. 🤗

Their Nachos are huge and delicious. We shared an order for dinner and were completely full, and there were still leftovers. Plenty of guacamole and sour cream and lots of delicious, moist chicken. Their tacos are excellent as well.

This is my favorite burrito place ever. They are pricey, but worth every single penny. The burritos aren’t the biggest in the world but they are still hate yourself for eating the whole thing big, and you will eat the whole thing. You will tell yourself you won’t but unless you pack the other half in the back of the fridge with a pad lock you’ll one more bite it to death.

You can tell they put their heart and soul into the food. The chili relleno sauce is amazing, and even though our family has a ton of special dietary stuff they have never once gotten it wrong. Do yourself a favor if you’re in the area and go by.

Update - Just had their Tijuana style tacos today, and they are amazing. My boyfriend got the queso burrito and it was swimming in queso he said it was extremely good too. Never had a bad meal from here in two years. Thanks guys xoxo
