This is the best Mexican food in Elsinore. Other restaurants have fancier dining rooms and decor, but their cuisine doesn’t compare. I have eaten at them all and their food is hit or miss and some are very expensive. I have even gotten food poisoning at one well known place.
Not only is Don Meres food fresh and superb, but at a very reasonable price.
My wife loves the birria tacos and I have a Carnitas burrito that I have specially made. Best burrito I've ever had and the owner, Jose, always remembers what I want. Tell him Mike sent you and you want that Burrito Especial.
Both our daughters want to eat there when they visit our town and they think the enchiladas are the bomb. We have even had the food at our home in large quantities for family gatherings.
My Wife's Birthday bash was held there a couple weeks ago and all the food was great. One friend ordered ham and eggs and said they were great.

Outstanding food. One of the best hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants I've found. Seats are old and vintage with plenty of wear and tare. This place even has a drive-thru

I got the chicken fajitas and they were amazing. Home made tortillas are amazing. I left no scraps. My beautiful love had the taquitos and she thought they were amazing as well.

Very impressed! I've passed by this place for years and never stopped. I only did because there was no parking along the main drag of Main Street. With a pinched nerve in my foot, I can't walk very far. I'm so glad I stopped here. I have been missing out this whole time. There is plenty of parking. Service was great and food was very very good. Inside was nice and cool on a very hot day and clean. Pretty empty, so I got my food right away. This is essential with only a 30 minute break. I'll be back for sure!

food: excellent menudo, try the corn tortillas. I also had a wonderful carne asada burrito with spicy green sauce. enough spic and taste combo.
