My family has been coming to La Casa del Zorro for many years. It has such good bones! We love the big rooms and the bathrooms. We love the heated pools, and the star gazing area. You can get a massage and take a Yoga class or just hang out by the pool. The pool area is getting worn and crusty. It needs a redo, but the water was hot and clean. The front desk people were super kind and helpful. We like that you can get some coffee and snacks from the cafe because there isn't much close by. The restaurant area is beautiful. I wish the dinner menu was more modern. I don't know anyone who eats pork chops and legs of lamb anymore. We ate dessert in the bar and it was warm and inviting. Their prices have gone way down, which is good because I don't think $500 a night is worth it, but half that feels like a bargain.

We enjoyed our first time stay. Loved the private Jacuzzi on patio. Walkable to Fox Bistro restaurant and bar. Both TV's very small and not happy with Roku. No access to local stations. Logging into other services not convenient! Having two bathroom sinks was unusual. The covered parking was a plus!

Stay away. Had such a horrible experience at this hotel. While taking a bath I noticed there was blood all over the wall. I hopped out of the bath so quick and ran to the shower legit crying I felt so disgusted. My entire day and vacation was ruined. I immediately called the front desk they sent someone to come clean. I pointed out where the blood was and asked to clean the whole tub. She left after five minutes. Shortly after I went to inspect and there was still blood all over the wall. I called again they sent three cleaning ladies. I left them in the room to clean and came back a few hours later. When I got back the blood was still there. I called for the third time and the manager came back with the head cleaning lady (who was extremely rude and accused me of lying about the situation) the manager offered to change my room and asked me to inspect it “to make sure it’s up to my standards”. This should be up to hotel standards not my standards, especially since it was almost $400 a night. I was brought into the other room and it was a mirror image of the room I was in so I got turned around and confused so I apologized and walked back into the room explaining what happened and the cleaning woman told me I needed to calm down. Considering the situation I was in I was extremely calm, except for the times I cried but I wasn’t screaming or yelling and didn’t appreciate her tone of voice. I am a manager myself and understand how difficult people can be so I tried to be as understanding as possible for this disgusting situation I was in. Later that day I was brought the keys for the new room and wasn’t even offered help with moving the bags to the new room. Extremely disappointed with the services, staff and accommodations made during my visit here. Safe to say I will never be back again.

Beautiful grounds, spacious rooms, friendly staff.
Deserves its "Historic Hotel & Resort" status.
A little far from central Borrego Springs (5-6 miles)
A little pricey with a $39 resort fee added to the room rate, but it's worth it.
Look for specials.
Lots of amenities, ping pong, tennis, pickle ball, shuffleboard, horseshoe, croquet, yoga etc. (No Fussball 🙁 )

Great place to stay! The bed and pillows were soft and comfy. Very nice bathroom with a separate bathtub and heat lamp. Spacious room with balcony. The grounds were nice to walk around, day or night. The resort has a very peaceful calmness to it. I would highly recommend for a romantic getaway, celebration, or a place to come and relax by yourself. The yoga class was my favorite part of my trip.

We came out to Borrego Springs to see an Art Exhibition of a friend. Three friends stayed in the Peppertree Casita at La Casa de Zorro. It had King beds in each of the three rooms that were super comfy! They also had 3 separate bathrooms, which for three girls is a must! There was a full size kitchen area, dining area and living room with a fireplace. It had a two car covered parking area and outside sitting area. The place was immaculate and had all the amenities you would need on vacation including its own lap pool. However, even though it was advertised as heated, the water temperature was around 65-70. Way too cold for an evening dip! But next time we’ll request them to turn up the heat! On the property is a very good restaurant with a good selection of meals. The price is a bit steep but worth the food quality. The only drawback is being understaffed. We waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Since check out was at 11:00 a.m. and couldn’t accommodate a later check out, we had to have a late check out due to the delay at breakfast. The front desk reluctantly agreed but it made for an uncomfortable situation.
And we did have some confusion at check in momentarily being told we didn’t have a reservation which was very stressful. However, we settled in to our Casita and had an amazing weekend. The only other issue we experienced was with our credit card and billing errors. Vivian Wilkie did an amazing job correcting and crediting my credit card. I will definitely be staying at the La Casa de Zorro in the future!

We were here early in the season and it was largely empty. Beautiful grounds. Very good service. The room was basically all it should be although showing a little wear. The problems were three-fold. 1. ROKU TV is your only option and poor. 2. There are no USB outlets on the bed stands. 3. The sewer system apparently plugged up, backing up the shower and overflowing the toilet. Not an ideal stay.

I realize it's hot in the desert during the summer months, but the A/C in our guest room never got below 88F. Our friends were staying in an Air BnB and they said they could get their A/C down to 70F. The A/C was dripping into our room all night after check in and wouldn't stop, either. Maintenance got the dripping fixed the next day, though. The hot water in our guest room only came out lukewarm. The ice machines around the guest room buildings weren't producing very much ice. I'm sure with the heat and the machines being outside they were having a hard time keeping up with guest demand, but that should be addressed. The pools were cloudy like the filtration system was too weak to circulate the water properly. We tried two of them, and same thing in both. The koi pond also was very sad to look at because of algae growth. The Stargazing theatre needs lots more love. The walls have light from the resort seeping through them and over them making it hard to see the stars. Plus, why no reclining chairs? It's all dirt! Our guest room phone wasn't working. We texted for maintenance, they came, said they would change it, but they never did. The Cafe Building’s roof needs a lot of work. When you look down on it from the guest room we were in it looks like a tornado hit it. Pretty bad upkeep like that. We know it's a non-smoking room, but there should also be signage on each balcony stating there should be no smoking there, either. I'm happy to pay for the smoke cleaning fee, but if we had known the smoke would travel into the room somehow we wouldn't have done that. Other than that, Staff was very pleasant, even when informing us of the smoking cleaning fee. Food was DELICIOUS.
