This place is a gem. The view from the grounds is breath taking. The rooftop pool was amazing. Kris and Chuck are the best hosts. They made us feel right at home. We will definitely be back.

This was the absolute perfect spot for a short weekend getaway! We had an amazing view of Weiss Lake from our balcony and the rooftop pool was right around the corner from our room. Breakfast on Sunday morning was served family style and was way more than expected. The location gives “in the middle of nowhere” peaceful vibes when actually, you’re 5-10 minutes from stores. Chris, the owner, gave some great suggestions for local wining & dining. The only thing wrong with the trip was that we only got to spend one night. Will definitely be back for a Girls Trip!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Sugar Shack cottage and had such a wonderful time. Kris and Charlie are great hosts and the animals made our stay memorable. We will surely be back to visit!

I had the pleasure of staying at The Secret recently with my husband. There were pros and cons of the experience. Pros: the owners were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed two nights and they prepared delicious breakfasts and offered complimentary wine in the evenings. The B&B is situated on top of a mountain that gives a beautiful vista. The rooftop pool is a cool thing to experience as well. Cons: For those not familiar with the area, it is a very small town, so do not expect much to do outside the property. The B&B is situated a few miles away from Lake Weiss and there are a few hiking trails nearby but not much else. I liked the rustic feel of the property and the privacy that the cottage provided but we stayed in "The Jail" and I thought the decor was overly quirky (all jail related), which I believe was intentional. The colors and decor did not give a particularly "relaxing" feel. Also, the bed sheets and pillows left a little to be desired. Overall, if you are looking for a secluded, rustic, pet-friendly, 3-star B&B to get away from the hustle and bustle for the weekend, then this fits the bill. It is a far better option than the standard chain hotel.

We have stayed several times at the Secret. The mid century modern building is reason enough to visit. One of the best examples of MCM I have seen in use. Open, spacious rooms, a round lazy Susan dining table that seats at least 12, open stairs, rooftop pool- too many features to list. Chris and Charley are good hosts. The grounds are lovely. The view is spectacular. We stay in the main house in a king room. The bed is comfortable. The hot water in the shower is not great. The pool deck is accessible from the upstairs rooms. Stargazing is incredible - the night was clear and the Milky Way was visible. Wine is set out at 5 pm for guests to enjoy. Outdoor furniture is comfortable and provides a nice atmosphere for enjoying the complimentary wines. Breakfast is home cooked and varies. Hillbilly biscuits, hash brown casserole and fresh farm eggs have all been delicious. Farm animals are a nice attraction. Jose the donkey is amusing. Fun place to stay. There is a restaurant nearby for dinner but it is only open a few days a week. Pick up a pizza and enjoy the view! Take note that the indoor pets are family.

We stayed here for a quick anniversary trip, in the Sugar Shack. The room was clean, and had a nice jacuzzi (no shower). We enjoyed exploring the grounds, and the view was amazing! Also loved the rooftop pool that is open 24 hours. Breakfast was awesome!

We stayed the weekend for my husbands birthday and Mother’s Day for me. We were in the Serenity room and it has an outside door by the rooftop pool. After eating a delicious breakfast, we spent the rest of the day at the pool relaxing. A beautiful view!! The king bed was very comfortable. Both nights we ate at a nearby restaurant call Decks and Doors. Very good food and we ate outside on the patio next to the water. The inn is a very beautiful house but does need some updating and deep cleaning.
