I was lied to the first interaction I had with a clerk at Pleasant Hill Inn. I asked for a military discount due to my husband's service. I was told the hotel could not change the room charge because I had booked the room through a 3rd party. I had not! I booked the room directly on the the hotel's website.
Secondly, the room we were originally assigned had a non-functioning deadbolt lock. I asked for a change of rooms.
Thirdly, one time when my husband went outside to smoke, a staff member shooed him away from the entrance to the hotel. So, he stood by the corner of the building. They came back out to tell him to stand further away, even though he was standing by the smoking sign and outdoor ashtray!
Finally, I felt like we were treated like 2nd class citizens at the place. I see other reviews written by apparently business-class people, and these reviews say they were treated well by staff. My husband and I are from the rural Midwest, and we dress comfortably, not fashionably. We were not greeted when we walked in or out of the building right past desk clerks. This is highly unusual to me. Not a "hello," "goodnight," or "have a nice day." The price was OK, but next time I am in the area I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Positive: Clean room! Negative: Very small room, like SMALL. Couldn?t even get into the ?closet?. There was a FALSE FIRE ALARM! And no one told any of the occupants there. When reaching the 1st floor turns out the couple burned a coffee pot. They didn?t call the fire department.

First of all this is a family run business. Tony and Mike and everyone treat you like family. Extremely friendly and very accommodating. This is much better than a two floor motel but has similar rates. Great bathroom, air conditioner and heater set to temperature. Bed is always clean and comfortable. I've stayed at the bigger more expensive hotels, and with this place, it's a nice middle ground hotel that's comfortable, but priced the same as those loud kind of tacky motor lodges. Has breakfast every morning downstairs. The family is always asking if everything is okay and if I need anything, and if I do they take care of it. Good people here who care about their customers, that's very important to me. I just prefer spending a little less money, and as long as everything is comfortable and clean with a nice spacious bathroom, with a tv that works, with considerate people running the place, that's all I need. I've stayed there now for years when I need to come back to that area for visits. I look forward to seeing them. Greg Cummins

Place is decent, kinda clean. Old decor, rooms are a bit small. The whole place smelled old, had a weird closed in smell a little musty. We requested 2 room keys & they both didn't work at the same time until the last night there. They do offer continental breakfast, pretty good options & it's all ready laid out early morning.

I really enjoyed my stay here! The room was really nice and clean. We had a sliding glass door that led to a balcony with a table and chairs. There was also a nice view. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location is amazing.

The good: centrally located close to downtown Pleasant Hill. A passably good healthy breakfast. Pleasant enough clerk/owner. Easy access to BART and Uber.||||The bad: The pool area was unlit when I went to swim. I had to ask the clerk to turn the lights on, which he did. The pool was advertised as heated. It was tepidly warm at best. I asked for a room away from traffic. I was given a ground floor room. (My impression was that the room was "sad" since there was no view and no direct light.)
