I had an excellent experience at the River Street Inn. The food at 1882 was awesome. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had trouble configuring the TV to our liking but Matt was extremely helpful, resolved our concern, and made us feel right at home. Will for sure be staying there again this summer. Itโs also in a great location

Despite the "about" info shown, there is no air conditioning in the rooms, not surprising given the age of the building. A small fan was provided which did little to help cool the room on a very warm evening in early July. We also had a strange issue with the water where the water from the cold sink tap would run very hot after a few minutes- no idea why, perhaps we were above the kitchen- that the staff was not able to reproduce when I called later to complain. All in all it was okay though- very small room, largish bathroom with claw foot tub and shower. It'd be very cozy in the winter I'm sure.

This place was really cute. We booked last minute and was able to get a queen room. You can only book through the phone, rates range and number available through their website. The room we got was really cute and freshly remodeled, the furniture and decor was absolutely adorable. Very comfortable and the claw bathtub was also nice. Good water pressure and hot water. Bed was comfortable and I liked the sheets.
The inn got a historic oldish charm that also came with some challenges. Know that you're across the rail, so while it is nice during the day, the rail runs quite often even at night. It woke me up several times a night even being a heavy sleeper. No AC but lots of fans provided, though it was still pretty stuffy and hot at night because I closed the window to mitigate the noise a little. The window was also really hard to open or close, but that's understandable because it's such a historical and beautiful place. I liked the slanted diagonal ceilings but be sure to not bump your head.
Free coffee and muffin downstairs in the morning. There's a small kitchen and lounge area and it's connected to the restaurant and bar.

My friend and I chose this in because of it's location near downtown Truckee so we could walk everywhere and not have to use the car. I'd stayed here some years ago and enjoyed it. But this time we got the only room with two beds and it was miserable. First off, there was zero hospitality. We had to go to the restaurant behind the building and have a server come give us a key. Second, the windows were not double-paned; one of them would not close all the way and there were no employees in the building. THe train and truck traffic all night were unrelenting; we had to sleep with pillows over our heads. We never saw the so-called innkeeper. Then, the towel rack fell off the wall, the toilet seat was so wobbly it threatened to come off too. The TV was the size of a small desktop computer and had fuzzy reception. There was no coffee in the room. As I was still recovering from knee surgery I wasnt about to set foot in a high antique tub with a curtain all around and no grab bars. . We asked the waitress what time coffee would be served in the moring; she said she thought 6:30. But no...turned out coffee and continental breakfast time as 8-10. Who going skiing would wait until 8 a.m. for coffee? THe other guests went across the street to Jax for their breakfast. For $250 this was a miserable, no-sleep experience. I would rather have been at motel 6 with headlights staring in the window. Tip to anyone staying there: Get a room in the back, facing the river, away from the traffic....

I took my Grandson from the Bay Area for an overnight Amtrak stop at Truckee. The Inn is about a 5 minute walk from the station -- thatโs the good part. It was hot that day. Upstairs, our twin bed room accommodations featured a fan, no AC -- we plopped the windows open with some pieces of wood to cool off the room. Later, I borrowed a fan from an unused room to get more air moving and were able to get decent sleep later that night. The room was quiet, except for occasional traffic and nearby trains going by as we had he windows open to cool off -- the bar at the other end of the building did not disturb us. The breakfast end consisted of coffee, gallon milk container, cereal, etc., the muffins were stale so the owner went to the store to replenish the stock. My grandson and I were the only ones eating at that time and eventually we went out to eat breakfast. The price of $207 for one night with the accommodations was overpriced. I believe the owner had too much going on with the B&B and bar. Putting that aside, Grandpa and Grandson had an interesting adventure!

Matt helped us to get settled and then invited us to visit the restaurant for dinner. The dinner was fantastic! ||||Our room was pretty and very well taken care of. The clawfoot tub was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable and we had more than enough pillows. The wifi was really fast. I really appreciated that a lot.||||This building is no spring chicken, so there are not a lot of outlets in the room. We had enough for our phones and laptop, but be forewarned if you looking to geek out in this hotel. We would have enjoyed a bigger TV, but we survived just fine. ||||The breakfast in the morning was continental. OJ, coffee, muffins, granola, and some fruit. ||||Matt and Wendy are really cool people. I would recommend you check this place out!

My daughter and I rode the train up from Martinez for a short weekend getaway. The people who checked us in and out were very friendly and our room was clean and comfortable. We LOVE trains so it didn't bother us that the freight trains go by about every hour or two throughout the night, but if you don't like the noise from train whistles, this may not be the place for you. It can be quite loud especially if your windows are open (we had no air conditioning in our room). The free breakfast included with our stay was limited but "Jax at the Tracks" is right across the street and they have a huge menu with excellent breakfast food! We'd stay here again because you can't beat the downtown location . . . especially if you take the train to get here.

We like this place. The bartenders and wait staff are the bomb! I especially like Lindsey, she a I have great conversations. The drinks are great and the food good too. I had chicken wings and they were yummy. Hubby had chili and seemed to enjoy it.
