Highly recommend The Best Beach Houses! Just enjoyed another fabulous family vacation at Alihi Lani Unit 4 on Kauai. Amazing 180 degree ocean view where we watched for sea turtles, porpoise, and more. We even spotted a very large group of Rays at dusk feeding close to shore with fin tips flying up out of the water! There’s a spacious furnished lanai, room for everyone to hang out together or separately. Gorgeous modern kitchen is fully-stocked with all you need. Lots of music CDs, games, books, movies, beach and pool stuff, A/C, W/D … amenities galore. Love the attractive island decor, comfy furniture and beautiful art. Everything is updated, clean and obviously well maintained. Oceanfront pool & BBQ area is lovely any time of day. Plus, it’s walking distance to beautiful Poipu Beach, nice shops and restaurants. We didn’t want to leave! Owner Cynthia Haines is super responsive and helpful -- obviously cares a lot about her properties and guests.

I recently stayed here for a week, part with friends from high school and part with family. I polled them all and everyone gave it two thumbs up.

The view and location directly on the beach can't be beat. Even the loft bedroom has an ocean view. Go out either of the lower-level bedroom doors, down the steps, and you're on the beach! Twice we saw pods of dolphins swimming by. The beach itself was clean and never crowded, even though we had nice weather much of the time. If you really want crowds of sunbathers, just walk in the Santa Cruz direction for 10-15 minutes.

This is a three-story property, so there are lots of stairs. They don't bother me, but my 86-year-old mother had to take them pretty slowly, hanging on to railings the whole way. However, she says that wouldn't detract from her rating of this place or keep her from visiting again.

The house itself is well-kept and well-furnished with every amenity you might want or need. Though we did go out a few times to eat, the kitchen is set up for cooking, so we did. There is even a grill on the balcony! Since you can't always see the ocean very well at night (depends on the moon) a couple of nights we binge-watched a show in the TV room. Comfy couches, well-stocked game cabinet, even good instructions for working the electronics -- so many examples of the care put into making sure this place gives you a wonderful, relaxing vacation.

We will definitely visit again!
