I regret to inform any potential guests that I cannot, under any circumstances, recommend staying at the Kernville Inn. My family and I have been loyal patrons, primarily due to its convenience to our annual holiday dinner hosted by my mother-in-law. Sadly, this year's experience has changed that.||||Upon our arrival, the encounter with the front desk manager, who was anything but welcoming, immediately set a negative tone for our visit. My sister, who had arrived ahead of me, had kindly requested adjoining rooms to keep our families close, only to be flatly denied without explanation—despite noticeable vacancies.||||The following day's interactions, or lack thereof, further solidified our concerns. Upon locking my key inside my room, the woman at the front desk silent demeanor when issuing a new key was disconcerting; not a word or inquiry about our stay, nor acknowledgment of my gratitude for getting me another key. Her demeanor was the same 15 minutes later when I returned both keys.||||The troubles escalated when my niece had an unfortunate fall on one of the hotel's Christmas decorations on one of their side patio areas—a reindeer. Before I could fully assess her ankle, the same woman from the front desk approached us, not with concern or inquiry, but with a hostile demand to keep "your kids off our Christmas decorations." Her tone and approach were shockingly abrasive, especially since during the interaction we we had expressed willingness to pay for any damages and were more concerned about my niece's wellbeing, and why she was approaching the way she was.||||When my sister tried to explain it was an accident, the stark lack of empathy and customer service skills from this individual became glaringly apparent. Her subsequent instruction for me to "check out" and her threat to call the police were delivered in front of distressed children, leaving us dumbfounded. Not to mention she yelled at us “I am the manager”||||It's distressing to observe such behavior in a hospitality role and a manager at that, where customer interaction is paramount. It's clear this manager would be more suited to a position away from guests, as her people skills severely lack the finesse required for such engagements.||||As for the accommodations themselves—the double rooms were on the smaller side. My room was clean, a credit to Brandi from housekeeping, and our interactions with a friendly housekeeping attendant were a brief but appreciated respite from an otherwise unwelcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, the myriad of rules posted throughout the room added to the unwelcoming vibes, suggesting that guests are more of an imposition than valued patrons.||||In conclusion, it seems Kernville Inn has a considerable distance to go in terms of customer service evolution. We have shared our dismay with family members, who are frequent visitors due to our mother-in-law's proximity, and we are united in looking elsewhere for future stays.||||On a brighter note, the town's first Krampus fair was delightful and offered some much-needed cheer after such an unwelcome experience at Kernville Inn.

I would have given this a 4.5 rating if possible, but it eked out the higher rating. It is a good value for the price. It is a simple, nice, and quaint place. It is a bit older and dated, but it is kept clean and neat. There isn't any breakfast, but there is a nice coffee shop across the street.||Pros:|- Friendly staff|- Pet friendly|- There is room to store items if necessary (unlike many modern minimalist places)|- Close to many shops||Cons:|- Rooms are a bit small|- Floors are a bit uneven and squeaky

We loved the cabin like room with private parking. The room was spacious with a very comfy, king-sized bed.

I very much enjoyed my stay here! The management were extremely nice and accommodating. My room was charming and clean. I had my dog with me and the facilities were very dog friendly. There were 2 parks across the street for walks with her. The neighboring businesses were also very dog friendly. I had lunch next door and was able to eat on the patio with my dog. My trip was for work but I'd love to come back for fun some time. The hotel and the entire town reminded me of a Norma Rockwell painting were everyone was happy , friendly and very clean.

I visit Kernville every year. I usually stay at a different hotel, but unfortunately, they did not have the room I needed available. I settled for this hotel instead. The rooms are small, but my main complaint is, I believe the owner. She had sandy blonde hair. I greeted her with a friendly smile and asked if I could have 3 extra towels. That is all I wanted. Nothing complicated. I did have the "do not disturb" sign on my door for a reason. I did not need it to be serviced, but to have a few extra towels was all. Also, in the bathroom, it does state that if you need extra towels to ask the front desk. She asked me if the housekeeping came by. I said no, I have the do not disturb sign up. As she walked with me to the room where they kept towels, she lectured me for the whole 1 minute it took her to get it. She stated, "This isn't the city, and we are not available 24/7." She stated, "The office closes at 6pm." The time was 4:50pm. They were going to be open for another hour. I found that to be completely insulting, and instead of giving her any attitude, I just said ok. I did not want to lose my room for any reason because I only had one day left. She wasn't welcoming at all, and I just thought to myself. All of this attitude over asking for 3 towels that took her 1 minute out of her day to get me towels. I will not be returning due to the poor customer service.

The manager is the worst!! I’m actually not sure why they have her working at the front desk & interacting with customers. Zero accommodations can be made to your reservation, when asked about the TV not working she has no solution. Thank god I figured it out!! She attempted to call the police (yes you read that right) after one of the kids fell on a Christmas decoration and “broke” it! I wish I could get my money back because my two children under 10 were afraid to return to the hotel that evening in fear of getting arrested!! ||||On top of this awful experience the rooms are sub par, small, dirty, you can hear the guests in the next room. Not worth the money stay somewhere else, anywhere else!!
