This is my first bad review I’ve ever written and had to decompress a few days before doing so. Canyon Ranch is in a beautiful location and it’s a shame I had such a bad experience at this resort. I purchased a day pass for $450, which included $250 worth of spa services, on Thanksgiving break.

During my massage, I was body shamed by the massage therapist for the last 1/2 of my 80-minute massage. I’m in pretty good shape and exercise 5-6 days/week, but the massage therapist talked to me like I was an overweight, out of shape individual. He shared personal details of his spouse having battled anorexia, and I’m sure this had something to do with this poor treatment of me. It was pretty horrible, as I was in a vulnerable position on the massage table, and had never been spoken to like this before in my life!

The front desk staffer that checked me in for the day seemed inexperienced and could have been a lot more helpful in explaining the way a day pass worked, so I wasn’t comfortable explaining to him what had happened in the massage room and wasn’t sure who else to speak to as no one seemed to be in charge at the spa, nor the resort check in desk.

I went during Thanksgiving week and the resort seemed light staffed, so perhaps that’s why the restaurant was only open for a few hours too. I would not recommend spending money here for a day pass. It wasn’t worth half of what I spent, in my opinion.

Canyon Ranch was amazing. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was such a great experience. I stayed for 5 nights solo, and highly recommend going alone. ||At first, the property was a little confusing to navigate, but it was fine after the first day. My room was perfect, near the standalone gift shop and the Intentions water feature. I enjoyed sitting on my porch and listening to the waterfall with morning tea.||Food was a little hit or miss. It was either really good, or really bland- but I had much more good food than bad! Just ask for anything you need, and they will do their best to accommodate you. ||Guests all seemed pretty laid back. I was a little nervous about fitting in, but I shouldn’t have been! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. A special event on the weekend brought in a little different crowd full of social media influencers. However, they were equally nice, and just had a different type of experience than the wellness crowd seemed to. The property is large enough to accommodate both types of guests with no issue. ||I returned home feeling relaxed, grounded, strong and refreshed. I’m headed back in March to experience what I wasn’t able to fit in last time!||Tips: • Don’t book back to back appointments until you figure out the layout of the property and how much time you need to get to each building. • Use the app to book and reschedule appointments. I loved being able to see what was available and move things around. • Take a walk in the morning or evening when it’s cool to familiarize yourself with the property, but make sure you pack bug spray! I was eaten alive the first night, and neither gift shop had bug spray for sale. The front desk had some they would let me take outside, spray, and bring back, but next time, I will be sure to take my own. • Don’t pack a huge bag! If you plan to eat dinner at the restaurant, you might want a couple of cute sundresses to wear. Otherwise, yoga clothes are all you need. And if you forget any, the gift shop has a great selection!

10/10 this was the best experience I have had. It was absolutely beautiful, relaxing, fun, and restorative. From the campus, to the classes, the gym, the spa, the food, the services I genuinely loved it all. All of the staff from the pick up all the way to drop off were welcoming, friendly, and helpful.|| My partner and I chose the spa renewal package and got to tailor the services to what we each wanted - head neck shoulders massage, acupuncture, private yoga, a collagen facial, along with many others. All of the service providers were kind, welcoming, helpful, and knowledgable. Between those, the classes, and presentations I actually learned a ton about health and wellness (and Im a therapist). ||We started our mornings with walks which was nice to see the area. Then we would do the yogas, meditations, and health related classes, go to the gym which had everything we needed, and then used the spa for hot tub/sauna/cold plunge which was all amazing and relaxing. As a vegetarian that eats whole foods, the food was fantastic. I really liked all of the options and felt nourished and was able to get enough protein. They also had wellness shots, smoothies, salad bars - it was just so so nice.||We chose the Tuscon location to get to see a new area, coming from NYC and it was beautiful. Also the buildings were really pretty, we thought it was such a cool aesthetic and the people were quite chill and easy going. It was a nice ambiance, I never felt judged or like anyone was rude, plus we got to be casual and comfortable. It was a chilled out vibe. We stayed for 4 nights which was enough to hit a ton of services and classes, but I wish I could've done more! I actually teared up leaving and have been sad since lol the sign of a good and needed trip!!! Would absolutely recommend.

My wife and I had another visit to Canyon Ranch in Tucson that we have come to expect: a uniquely beautiful setting in the Sonoran Desert, at the foot of four mountain ranges, with an array of wellness classes, lectures and spiritual experiences that nourish the soul. The food was better than ever, and it is now discretely augmented by fine wines, too. But, it is the staff that is the core of satisfaction for guests, a staff who, by their nature and training, consistently impart fun, excitement and learning throughout our stay, program after program. They will even customize activities to suit the most unusual client preferences. Did I mention that the weather is reliably perfect for outdoor activities?

It just isn’t worth the money. Park your own car, no valet. Everything is extra and what you get for &1,000 a day is way over priced. Indoor pools are single use and appointment only. No one was in them and they didn’t even say ā€œcan I make an appointment for youā€. Not a place for couples, someone said in a review how great staff were, and they even upgrade their room at no charge. I asked and they said yes, but you have to pay an additional charge? The room is empty today, who is going to pay for it. They rather let it go empty I guess in Tucsom. Told we can come as early as 8, no valet and by time we checked in, breakfast was over. The rep told us breakfast is included, but only at the smoothie cafe. If we wanted to eat in the restaurant, we had to pay extra. No co ed waiting area or indoor heated pool that
my wife and I can share. Only outdoor pools are coed, so you have to stay with strangers. Horrible and only just got here today.

I took this trip for some me time from my busy life and splurged to treat myself. ||From the moment I arrived I have been disappointed. Let’s start with after 7hrs traveling to get here, there is no-one at the front to help with luggage or bags or to great you warmly upon arrival. My room was positioned in the back of the property, I asked for it to be moved closer to everything, they couldn’t do so. Ok fine. I was starving, it’s an all inclusive resort… restaurant told me in 15minutes too late to order anything.. go to the cafe… I go to the cafe… they are sold out of sandwiches. ā€˜Sir - where can I get something to eat… we are in the middle of nowhere and this resort is supposed to be all inclusive? Oh, they serve dinner at 5ā€. (In 2 1/2hrs). Great. I go to the room to decompress, no water or any beverages in the fridge in the room, no snacks or food. I go to the bathroom, I cut my hand on sharp chipped porcelain sink they never fixed… the faucet is dirty… I head to dinner, they have one restaurant and I am ONE person, sorry mam, we can’t accommodate you until later… unreal. This place costs a fortune, what a disappointing day. Service horrible, food availability horrible, facilities are super run down, room is unclean - I’m really disappointed and I’m staying here another three days. I highly recommend Mirival over this, I won’t make that mistake again.

the Vici lease feels like it has caused the property to tighten the screws on anything that is not a physical udpate . So While there is work on physical upgradez, customer training seems to be last, and the Ranch no longer has the philosophy of the customer comes first. The Resort needs to clarify the cell policy....calls were abounding in the spa (40 minute call), the spa lobby etc....either yes or no . For those who have historically rejoiced at a week without phones, this is no more! you must bring your phone in case the location of the class changes. Rooms are renovated yes, but the buildings themselves have been there since i first went to the ranch in 1990 and some of the rooms are very small. And new management will not upgrade even when the ranch is 2/3 empty. Guests need to ask for-rather than be offered-courtesies (ie additional credits for services where the provider is a no show, or classes that disappear). Employees are NOT empowered to say yes (four calls to get a smaller weight into the gym).Still a beautiful beautiful place but one demerit for customer service (called GM twice, no call back despite being a VICI investor) and a second for lack of a clear cell phone policy.
