This is a brand new Hotel. There are not many options in Cottonwood if you prefer new or contemporary accommodations. The rooms are almost sterile and lack a visual warmth. They are mostly white with small color accents. But, the bed and pillows are firm and comfortable, and the bathrooms are very nice. They have a strange electricity system that requires you to leave one of your room keys in a slot to keep the electricity working inside your room. The small restaurant had a good breakfast at a decent price. I only gave 4 stars for location because the hotel sits just outside of old town Cottonwood sort of in the middle of nothing but it's just a short 12-minute drive from old town. This would be our first-choice destination location if they had a nice outdoor pool next to the lounge area in the back of the hotel.

I was extremely pleased with this hidden little gem. Looking for a place near Cottonwood? Here it is. Our goal was to visit Jerome for a day trip but this lovely place is only 30 minutes from Sedona. The rooms are very clean and decorated in a simple elegant style. The lobby is gorgeous and they have a breakfast area. They also have a little gift store with Hopi items. The hotel itself is run by the Hopi tribe. They have tables outside to watch the sunset against the hills. As far as business, there was a desk with convenient plugs and the internet was fast. Comparable to any Hampton style hotel with an upscale interior. Bedding was comfortable with plenty of pillows. They also have a walking trail to the Verde river.

I have a service dog who is well-trained and well-behaved. I’ve taken him to many places, including airplanes, and have never encountered any issues. However, this hotel claims they only accept service dogs for individuals who are deaf or blind. I’ve never heard of such a discriminatory policy. To make matters worse, they demanded to see proof of my disability and asked me to demonstrate the tasks my service dog is trained for. What were they expecting—me to have a panic attack on the spot?
This behavior is incredibly rude and ridiculous. I strongly urge everyone to avoid this hotel for their blatant disrespect toward people with disabilities and their service animals.

I wish we would have had a better experience at Taawaki Inn. The building and its surroundings are a striking example of sustainable construction, which is clear to even a lay person upon entry to the lobby. The deliberate minimalist environment is also quite interesting, and is a welcome departure from most standard hotels of this classification. ||Where it fell short was the lack of attention to detail by the staff, and the lack of any amenities, aside from bathrobes in the rooms. ||The check in took nearly 45 minutes, even arriving at 3:30 PM. The hotel was pretty much completely empty. Empty parking lot, and only two other couples also trying to check in. There was only one front desk staff member, and he was clearly overwhelmed. I asked for a room facing east (looking out towards Sedona and the Tuzigoot National monument). He kept insisting that he had us down for room 226 (even rooms face the other way). Apparently he even gave our room keys to another person, whom he had to chase down to get them back. I finally asked to speak with the manager, a woman who proceeded to argue with me that they couldn’t move us, nor could they make an adjustment on the rate due to other online rates being advertised much lower, and the restaurant being closed. She finally relented and gave us room 215, which faced east and had the view we were looking for. ||In my opinion, a hotel that is clearly trying to cater to a crowd that appreciates attempts at sustainability should not make their guests check in experience so highly stressful. After the stressful check in, I was actually glad we were only staying one night. ||The hotel has a restaurant, but it was closed. I don’t know when it was going to reopen, but we paid over $200 for a room that didn’t include breakfast or any other amenities, |aside from bathrobes. There is no pool, no hot tub, and really not much of anything else besides EV chargers and a few tables with fire pits on the eastern side. ||The hotel is only about five minutes to Cottonwood, which we ended up finding numerous high quality dining options. Check out Merkin Vineyards Hilltop Restaurant, as a great choice. ||All in all, I think this hotel needs to lower its rates until it can have adequate staff and a working restaurant. I also suggest them to adjust the rigidity of assigning rooms to guest before they arrive.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. I booked it as pet-friendly and noted I’d be traveling with a service dog. Upon arrival, I was told service animals are only allowed for blind or deaf individuals and was asked to cancel my reservation. However, I saw two dogs in the lobby and was later told those guests booked before a policy change in July, which was never communicated to me.

We arrived at 8 PM in a remote area and had to find another hotel last minute. The owner initially claimed pets were allowed but secretly instructed the staff to deny our stay. This unprofessional and dishonest behavior violated my rights as a guest. I strongly advise against staying here.

Wow, what a great find -- we needed to be close to Jerome, pet-friendly, and of course comfortable. Taawaki met all our needs and then some. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the facilities are beautiful. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, coffee, refrig, microwave - and even bath robes. The gift shop is a must see. Wonderful art. We're ready to book again for next year.
