We stayed in the Cowboy and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting out on the patios and watching a wide variety of birds from a comfortable chair, when we were not hiking the paths and birdwatching. Chuparosa Inn is ideally located for easy access to birding trails and has plentiful wildlife viewing right on the property. From turkeys to squirrels, we added 8 new bird species to our life lists, including the Trogon. Hummingbird species were abundant, including the magnificent and broad billed. Breakfast provided was delicious, and Luis was very helpful interpreting the ecology of Madera Canyon. Luis also spent time with us discussing the history of the area, and ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Chuparosa Inn is a unique and unexpected treasure in the Santa Rita Mountains. We will return!

We stayed here on the first two nights of our honeymoon road trip, because we researched this was one of the best places in USA to see hummingbirds (and we have never seen them), and Chuparosa looked idyllic. We chose the Bird Nest room for the private patio. We arrived late at night which kindly was not an issue for our hosts. The room was beautifully decorated with great amenities, and the bed so, so comfortable. We woke up early and squinting through the dusk i couldnt believe my eyes at the number of hummingbirds already darting around. Its an experience I will never forget. We spent the next day really relaxing and hiking in the local area. Amazingly, a huge thunderstorm passed over and it didn't spoil a thing, if anything it made it more exciting. We also saw deer and wild turkeys while sat on our patio both mornings, and lots of bats. But the Hummingbirds! It felt so natural and unique staying here to watch them, and so peaceful. We spent time on the communal patio which was also a delight, with a little bridge over a (dry) creek. Luis was very hospitable and helped us with our BBQ dinner. Also incredibly thoughtful touch to give us some traditional mexican wedding cookies. We couldnt have asked for a more perfect start to an incredible honeymoon. Thank you so much, we hope in future we can return.

We were finally able to stay at The Chuparosa and WOW it was worth the wait. Luis was so wonderful and made us feel like family. I could sit and watch the birds all day long. We had a wonderful treat by seeing the Coatimundi show up for our farewell, so cute. Of course the Elegant Trogon was seen each day while sitting out and then photographed while hiking. We will be back and bringing our friends. Luis and Nancy keep that place looking like a 5 star Bed and Breakfast. You don’t want to miss it.

Bird's Nest Suite, Chuparosa Inn|Beautiful setting, lots of birds.|Access to trails very good.|Lots of bird feeders|Very small space in the studio.|Not much room in the kitchenette. The unit could use more utensils. The grill was clean and there is a selection of grilling utensils.|Owner responsive to requests.|Bathroom is somewhat out of date, shower not very clean, that’s probably iron in the water. Sheets need replacing -flannel, but they’re old too.|I wouldn't say it's great value for the money, but you’re paying the Madera Canyon and AirBnB premiums.

We spent a quiet weekend in the Cowboy suite in the off-season. The place was a perfect getaway for our anniversary! Lots of hiking just outside the front door - we tromped down to the visitors center & back one day, and to the top of nearby Mt Wrightson the next. Even in the off season, we saw lots of unusual birds, plus ring-tail cats, deer, squirrels, and javelina. Hosts are very nice & accommodating!

We love the Chuparosa! This was our third stay here. Luis is wonderful, so inviting, and extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and the area. All the rooms are charming and very comfortable. Breakfast is delicious. We love the patios, views, and all the wildlife that visit the feeders. We can't wait to return again.

This is the nicest B and B in Madera Canyon. It is right on the running stream and nature trail that runs from the top of the canyon down. There are two rooms downstairs on the back and two rooms on the front, only four rooms. The owners and their wonderful inn hostess, Sara, are on the top level. Very private and all you can hear are the birds singing. Beautiful patios and areas for watching the birds, reading a book or visiting quietly. Each day your refrigerator is stocked for the next morning with a delicious quiche, yoghurt and fruit compote, fresh milk and orange juice. Each room has a dispenser of cereal. The Troqon Suite has a full kitchen which is what you need if planning to cook. There is a large propane barbecue on the patio for use by all guests. We had the Hummingbird suite which had a small kitchen area (no stove and undercounter frig) and small sitting room with large windows. The Cowboy room is very private facing the creek. The Nest faces the street and side yard with a private and screened patio. Both of these are one room. All rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable but the best place to be is on the patios and outdoor areas. It is about 13 miles down the canyon to Green Valley where there is a Safeway. Inn keepers are very helpful, responsive and pleasant. But the Inn is private so best to call for information. The Innkeepers are not there all day. Highly recommend and suggest making reservation far in advance for the best birding season.

Came here for a birthday trip. The cabin was absolutely lovely, so quaint and had everything we needed. We loved everything about it. Saw so many animals and beautiful sights. The hike to Mt. Wrightson was beautiful and scenic.

Bonus, seeing the coatimundi (twice) was just the icing on the cake.
Five stars, can’t wait to come back!!
